Morning all, cold overcast morning here. Thanks for the coffee Ak just what I need. Went to Costco yesterday and got conned into buying one of the big paddling pools at the entrance. What I like about it most (not just it's size) is it is salt water purified and not chlorine. Anyway forcast is heavy rain this morning so won't be puting the pool up until June.
Morning All, Bright start to the day with highs of 20C forecast. French lesson this morning which I would rather miss as there are a whole string of jobs that I must try and finish before the weekend. If I were you Charlie I would start collecting rain water, as you might have a nice pool, but come summer you could be without a means of filling it.
I thought there was a hosepipe ban down there - you shouldn't be able to fill it anyway? I'll send you some snow down to help - have had a gutfull of the stuff, had to dig my car out to take it for its MOT this morning - not happy. This time last week I was sunning myself in the garden, enjoying 30C (don't know where the Beeb got their maximum of 24C in Aboyne from - they certainly didn't look at my thermometer!)
BB, we have the same task this morning I am also taking my car for it's MOT but I didn't have to dig mine out of any snow There is some wetness in the air, don't mind the rain as the garden does need it!
Morning Norway - I take it that it wasn't you featuring on the Beeb news this morning then? A couple of trucks on a Norwegian road gracefully sliding through a barrier, over the edge and down 200 metres towards a fjord.
Mine's was two weeks overdue - only realised yesterday. Just had a call to tell me the brake pipes were corroded - they've now given their computer the lengthy task of calculating how much it will cost me
Morning all . My car is due a service too, in fact, it's overdue..so it's going in on Saturday morning...and while it's in i'll wander up to Costco to buy some salmon for Saturday night. Must remember to take a back pack (lined with carrier bags!). That should be a good bit of exercise for the day...!
Had my car serviced last Thursday and MOT'd - always do them together so they cant fail me on a minor item. Also filled my car and my wife's with petrol as She needed to give me a lift back - it was when the South East were closing petrol stations but here there was no one else on the forecourt
My brother lives near Aboyne - in Ballater and his site registered 26º - he says they are more sheltered than Aboyne - but he has snow this morning on his webcam http://www.ballaterskies.co.uk/ (click on "live weather data" )
mine is being MOT'd too...i think though, after the Bat Mitzvah in September, i'll be getting a new car. This one will be four and a half by then, and i usually only keep them 3 years, but with the BM, buying a new car was low priority!
Is MOT like our skoðun ökutækja by the Umferðarstofa. A car has to be tested for safety after four years and then two year until the car is eight years and then every year.
I saw it too - the recovery vehicle driver got clear but the lorry driver when over the edge but survived - quite dramatic video though
Morning all A sunny one here with no sign of rain. Made me laugh when they started suggesting on our local TV that the answer to water shortages is water butts. We have 5 big ones but they're not much use if it doesn't rain...
Thanks BB The last ban did not include filling pools they were exempt so I had no trouble, but this one says I can fill the pool but it has to be done by hand and I'm no gungadin. We had 3 rivers water before but they were taken over by Veolia so the french won't let us fill our pools. So it looks like the pool will be going back to Costco and if the circumcstances change we will have to use our old pool. In answer to your question Ak - I was conned into buying a new pool as an upgrade but I do like using the pool in the summer, nothing nicer than coming back home from work and taking a plunge.
