A few months ago i posted that I was returning to England for the first time since the mid 70's. Well the big moment is fast approaching. On Thursday afternoon (Sydney time) I will be boarding the plane that will bring me back to the old country, arriving at 6am on Good Friday. I am very excited to be seeing London again, my daughter says i need to chill a bit ( i think that is what we will be doing after seeing the weather forecast)! I can't make the Norwich game but will be making a trip to the Lane later hopefully there will be a ground tour on. Also I can watch the semi final on TV in real time. Can't wait. COYS
You do realise you will now be a hero or a villain depending on how Spurs next games go. It will be down to you.
Spurf, I am hoping me being the will be a happy time - a good luck charm if you like. The lads are on the upward curve and a good result at the SOL is achievable. If I turn out to the villain - I won't tell anyone where my hotel is (Bloomsbury)is all I'm saying.
If you know what's good for you, you will avoid North London. If the last time you saw it was in the 70s, you are in for a huge shock.
So don't need the Budgie jacket or bell bottoms? Seriously though don't plan to take a tour round NL my stamping ground was Leyton, so just going to show my family the area,my old house and where went to school that's about it. My sister is on the ground staff at AFC Wimbledon so they're taking me to the Friday match there and I will have to settle for highlights of the Sunderland game on tv.
Totsfan- not staying in NL my hotel is in WC1 and my sister lives in Surrey. But I know what you mean.
I remember Tottenham in the late 60s and early 70s, and it was a far nicer place to live and work. It started to feel like a suburb of the Bronx from about the late 80s onwards. Today, it is a dreadful place, really.
To be serious, it has gone down because it has had a lack of investment, a lot of the building are there from the sixties and have become delapidated. Those are the conditions where violence breeds.
You will be surprised at the scale of the changes. The council have actually labelled the riots as "street improvements." All the same, welcome home fella. Hope you have a great time while you're here.
