Sorry I couldnt find the reserves and academy thread. There is a good game going on on LFC.TV. The reserves are beating Villa 1=0, thnks to Nathan Eccleston. Im enjoying it immensely. Good old rezzies. with their position in the league and the position of the u18s, there are lots of reasons to be happy for the future.. COYR YNWA
There doesnt seem to be a programme set aside for it. They are bound to show the highlights again 2mrw night though.
I've just read Rodolfo's preview on the club website and the article says that Villa have won 9 and drawn 1 of their 10 league games at home this season. Makes the scoreline so far look even better!
Full-time: Aston Villa Reserves 1-4 Liverpool Reserves. A good night for the reserves! Villa had won 9 and drawn 1 of their 10 league home games this season so an excellent result. Eccleston got the first for Liverpool and a goal from Suso gave Liverpool a 2-0 lead at half-time. McLaughlin got a goal early in the second half to increase our lead. Johnson pulled a goal back for the Villa but some very unselfish play from Sterling meant that N'Goo got a goal in injury time.
I know its a different level, but the reserves have shown massive improvement this year. They look a proper team and play good football. We do lack a top class striker, but Eccleston has come on alot this year. And the midfield has a brilliant balance of pace, technical ability, workers and passers. Defence is strong, with Sama and Wisdom being similar in partnership to agger and skrtel. They are a pleasure to watch and I hope many will be able to take that potential to the next level. Wisdom, suso and sterling could be massive for us in the future. Wisdom similar to agger, and suso and sterling give us something we dont have and have been badly lacking in recent years
I actually thought we weren't that good until we got that goal against the run of play. Wisdom was man of the match for me, fantastic player and definitely has a future in top flight football. I don't know if it's going to be with us though, we have Agger and Coates in that sort of role and it's hard to see anyone getting ahead of them in the future.
Did not see the game but i'm sure their will be highlights of it in the next 2_3 day's Agree with above that A.Wisdom is a cracking player and i for 1 hope he breaks into the 1st team.Agger is class when not injured but i don't think he will be with us much longer so a space to be filled soon.I'm prob going to get loads for saying this
I think Agger will stay, and hope Wisdom does to as like for like. What is wrong with having two similar players.....if you look at the teams competing at the top they have good coverage in every position across the squad. And that is why their players are not tired now and ours are completely knackered. Skrtel, Agger, Coates, Wisdom (as bare minimum) We also have Wilson and Sama.
I watched this before the utd game. Villa had a very young team out as well.... I have to say that Wisdom is a cut above the other defenders we have at this level. he's jsut got that little extra. Smaa is a big lump but not going to make it, wisdom might just make it. Also wisom plays right back, and CB and is covering lcb so don't compare to agger, he should replace carragher if anything.. But thats not why i wanted to comment, no i wanted to make comment on the difference in suso lately. His work rate and tracking back has been first class. I think he is standing out well above the others at this lvel, bar of course the obvious sterling.
Encouraging signs and I'm glad the coaching staff have drilled in the importance of working hard and tracking back. When I first watched him, his technique was amazing - has he still got this? Because I was a little worried that he may have compromised some of his skill and technique for the more physical aspects?
