Not sure, but dickheads that posted far more vile stuff never received a permanent ban, so he might have been given a week ban just to cool off.
Back on topic and Neville, he is the best pundit around because he is the most in touch with the modern game and he can articulate it better then other footballers. The analysis he did on the Barca/Real Madrid game was brilliant.
What also makes him interesting is that he has won top club honours ubder the best manager ever. Alan Hansen and :awro were similar at first but I think they are a little complacent these days. Having said that, Roy Keane should be every bit as engaging as neville, but being on ITV means he will never get the air time to discuss things in depth the way the sky folk do.
Agree. ITV is awful They start their CL coverage at 19:30 and have an advert two minutes after. It's so bad it's funny. Also Keane has to respond to questions from that numpty Adrian Chiles. He can only do so much from what he is given on ITV.
People knock Alan Hansen but he is a top pundit, absolute top, been there, done that too. He talks football and not cliche's, a bit old fashioned but knows his stuff when it comes to defending. Man U's teams for the past 5 seasons have been workman-like, but they get the job done, they dig in, they are men, they are not weak. This is what Arsenal don't have, they don't have this tough hard to break down side that Man U do and this is why they keep winning, grinding down teams, relentlessly. We all saw Rooney and SAF give a rocket to Welbeck for trying a flick that didn't come off tonight, its that will to win they have which makes them the best, even if they are unspectacular. You need consistency to win leagues and they are the most consistent team ... as bloody usual.
I keep hearing about mental toughness, but I've yet to see what tangible qualities it produces. Seems to be a bit of a catch all when it comes to deciding on a reason for success or failure when someone doesn't know what else it is. As I said somewhere else, confidence is one mental quality that I can believe in. Confidence in yourself, in your team-mates and in the system that you play. If that is what is meant by "mental toughness" then I would agree with it. I think saying mental toughness implies more of an insult to the player than is really merited. Players do not have individual mental toughness/confidence (I don't believe), teams have it. And it isn't a binary thing, where you either have it or you don't, all teams have it in varying degrees. The more pressure you are under, the more you need in order to avoid making mistakes.
Read Gary Neville's article because .. I don't think you understood a word of it. It is explained THOROUGHLY.
Excellent article written by a man that's been in the middle of it. Winning the league is like a marathon and you must have the strongest mental toughness to win it. There are many ups and downs you go through, have purple patches and bad ones, have injuries and controversies but you have to focus and carry on. This is the one thing missing from our game but with new up and coming players like Wilshere, Chesney, Frimpong, OXO etc coming through, they seem to have that edge. But will the rest be mentally strong enough to win the league again in the coming years? Thats the big question....
I think what makes Neville a good pundit is that he wasn't that naturally gifted a player, so he had to work his arse off at everything to reach the top of his game. He needed to understand how it all clicks together in order to compete.
Actually, he didn't. Did you read it? I'm getting sick of you ******ed ****s, answering every post people make with an insult to them. Get the **** off the boards if you cant discuss things with adults! If you don't have the wit to actually deal with what I wrote, don't write anything at all.
Buster Bloodvessel If you didn't write nonsense I wouldn't have to point out the error in your ways - the article is solely about mental toughness making players winners - in all sports. Tangible qualities ? Use your brain dickhead or is it too difficult for you to work out.
Yep - just like that trolling. FYI the definition - In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response
