Depends when you decide who are underdogs. If wigan were top of the league and 1 point clear of city would city be the underdogs who nothing is expected of? <doh>

But we're talking about now, and now, Chelsea and Newcastle ARE the underdogs <doh>

Looks like someone has had the wind taken out of his sails by Saturday.

And is panicking: making excuses up already.

You are so fickle; last week it was, 'If we get CL football next year then this year is acceptable. If we dont then it is a massive failure.'

Now you are underdogs! You must be female

Chelsea have won 2 out of their last 5 Premier League games, momentum my ass. Justifiable if you won all those games, but you haven't.

We can see in 3-4 more games if the wind is in your sails, ok?

The first and only person to use the term "underdog' on this thread is you. Original thread summed up our season perfectly, other threads mainly agreed with variations, then along comes you and the tone changes.
Everyone at Chelsea agrees we have stuffed up our season, shot ourselves in the foot, and it isn't just this season. We held players too long, didn't freshen the team correctly, I could go on for days.
However, here we are now, in the CL, in the FA cup and in with a slim chance of 4th in the PL.
No one is playing the underdog, just bemoaning the fact we now have an extremely difficult task to get top 4, especially with all the additional games we are playing in 2 competitions your team, Man U, City, and Spurs were not good enough to progress in.

Has this seriously degenerated into a 'we are bigger under dogs than you' arguement???
A few years ago it would have been a 'we're a bigger club than you' arguement....kind of sums up both chelseas and arsenals seasons really.
As a spur I will be gutted if we dont get top 4 now but....no one but no obe gave us a hope in hell if getting top 4 before the season started...and we were bottom of the league on minus 7 goals and no points in early September so even if we dont get top 4 its still be a good effort by us.

Quite frankly with 21 points to play for it could still be Newcastle & Chelsea in 3rd & 4th who knows?

2 away wins on the bounce and unbeaten at home in all competitions this year, In an FA Cup Semi and one draw/win at home from being in a CL semi as well. New manager effect.

I'd much rather be in Chelsea and Newcastle's positions than Arsenal's and Spurs.

The day finishing 3rd/4th in the league becomes more prestigious than winning the FA Cup and Champions League is the day I give up watching football <ok>

Would I take winning the FA Cup over 3rd/4th place? Every day of the week and the same applies to the Champions League. Winning a trophy like those is something nobody can take away from you. In 3 years time or even less nobody will remember who came 3rd or 4th in the league?

We accept we are where we deserve to be at the moment and anything above 5th would be a bonus, I even know some people that had bets on Newcastle to go down at the start of the season so they would hardly be heartbroken with a 5th/6th place finish bearing in mind they are a Championship side 2 years ago.

How in anyway is that '100%' record relevant. What does that amount to...about 2 games?!?!

How about our fantastic record at new Wembley in the fa cup??

Bottom line is how can you say being in the C.L next year is so important yet us nearly being in the semis THIS YEAR isn't?!?!

    Delusional.

Spurs are only in the top 4 because they weren't in the C.L this year and threw away Europa. Look how they did last year trying to juggle Europe AND P.L.

Unfortunately the money and prestige of the CL has skewed players, clubs and fans view of what really matters. Chasing a CL spot now takes priority over everything if you are in the position to fight for it.

Off course you would you're a deluded Spud.

Did you study the bleedin' obvious at school?

3rd F.A. cup semi against us? Really??? You haven't played us in a F.A.Cup semi-final that I can remember Although we have played you three times in the quarters winning two of them in 2007 & 2002. I strongly suggest you know what your talking about before you come on here with your typical stupid spud ramblings. Are you off school or an armchair ponce?

You know very well he is talking about games at Wembley. Not all that relevant imo, but deliberately misunderstanding doesn't help <ok>

I think he actually meant gettoing back to 3rd in the league and a FA Cup semi, not the 3rd semi.

    Anyway..............

It's sad that it's the case these days that most fans, players and clubs would rather 4th than the FA Cup, even an FA Cup final should be more of an achievement than 4th really. I argued before Portsmouth 2 years ago that I'd take the FA Cup over 4th but ultimately I have to admit that Champions League football is more important to our club because of the money it brings in. It's easy for a Chelsea fan to say that they'd rather the trophy but that's because you'll be able to spend big in the summer regardless of CL football and if players turn you down at first, you can add another zero on the end of their salary. If we miss out on the CL this season we will almost certainly lose some of our best players, if we qualify we can break our wage structure to keep them and bring in new players to try and convince the others to stay.

We beat you the last two times we played you on the FA Cup and have a better record than any other English Team at the New Wembley.

How are you poised to go 3rd? You are in 4th position you numpty playing away to a team that has only lost once in the league under their new manager and you are yet to win an away game in 2012 <doh>

    Can't disagree with you there.
