Seriously though, when looking back at a lot of his gameplay...

The guy can tackle very well. Colo is the best all round tackler on the team in terms of precision and timing, closely followed by Tiote and then Perch and Saylor are probably around the same level.

Perch's reading of the game is excellent. Some of the interceptions he makes are brilliant. He sees where the ball is gonna be played, and I'm not just talking about balls being played along the ground. He really impresses me when he reacts quickly and jumps quickly into the path of a pass to block it out.

Also does anyone else notice how he uses his body extremely well? How high can this ****er jump? Has he got springs under his boots? He's actually pretty good in the air for a 5ft 9/10 inch defender. I never thought he was good in the air but recently, if he's given the ability to move and maybe have a bit of a run up, the bloke is decent in the air.

I know we all think he's good, but I don't think some people realise how good of a player he really is. Tactically and physically he's an all round great defensive player. He's not strong, but he can use his body in other ways to deal with players, and ever since I saw the way he improvised to deal with Drogba in our game vs Chelsea at home, I've been really quite impressed with.

He's got a good brain on him. He's aggressive, he's a good player physically. He reacts well, accelerates quickly and has good pace.

He's got to be one of the surprise packages of the season. We could really use him and he's worth way more than the original 1m that we payed for him I think.

Lets cut the kneejerk reaction here.

Hes an average player who's having a few cracking games ATM and stepping up well, hes never going to be anywhere near the level of Saylor and Colo.

Hes not particularly amazing in any of his attributes but seems a very capable utility player to step in when needed.

It's not a knee jerk reaction to a few performances, he's impressed me for months now. Did you not see I mentioned the Chelsea game back in December? That's 5 months ago now.

I never said he's near the level of Colo and Saylor. And don't just compare him to center backs, I'm not just talking about his ability to be a center back. I'm talking about him as an all round player, not just his performances at center back.

He's done well as a midfielder, fullback and a center back recently.

He's definitely the most versatile player we have, not just because he can play the most positions but also because he plays generally well whilst playing in all of them, where as the likes of Raylor don't really do as well in certain roles.

My only fear is Mashley will see him as good enough and not invest in another cb.

Colocinni is a better CB. Tiote is a better defensive mid fielder. Santon is likely to be a better full back some day.

As a general useful person to have around, though, no one better immediately springs to mind (meaning no offence to Mr. R Taylor)

He's good in the air, not good at challenging in the air imo. If he went in for an aerial challenge with someone like Hangeland, Samba etc. he'd be mullered

Tash mate I think your spot on mate with the whole Perchinho vs Drogba battle few months back since then he has looked like a different player to the one we all knew and loved...to abuse.

Defo been one of our better performers for a few weeks now and again i agree, surprise member of the squad for the season.

    Perchinho for England haha

I really like Perchinio as a solid squad player. He didn't get off to the best of starts with the club and had some poor games, but this season he has looked good. I would seriously be sad to see him go, I think he'd be harder to replace than many people think. I don't think you will find many people as decent as he is happy to fulfil a squad role in several positions when needed. Not to mention he didn't cost the world.

I'll also just shamelessly repost what I posted before the match on Thursday....

Come on now credit to the lad, he's proven that he can play and I believe he's shown enough that he can be a solid backup for us...

That said, he's not going to be a world beater, but I think every manager would love to have a Perch or two or more in his team for sure..
