Doni will be in the first team come the weekend, you wouldn't expect to see Reina play a reserve game tonight would you?
To be fair, could you imagine if Doni played tonight against Villa and got injured?! We wouldn't be too happy...
No, but Reina has been in all season. You'd think they'd like to get a look at Doni in a match scenario to make sure he's up for it. Obviously he'll have trained, but you can never replicate a proper game.
I have not paid much attention to the reserves this year so this may sound stupid but...has Doni not been playing reserve team football this season? Or has he just been sat on his jack?
Its very rare that any senior members of the first team squad play for the reserves at all.... Ive seen coates play a couple and Spearing a couple, but thats about it... Usually brad Jones or such for ther reserves.
