The Queen of Klanfield won't get sacked, says Lawro!

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Apr 2, 2012.

  1. "I don't believe he'll be sacked. It's a poor run, but the new owners are not going to make knee-jerk decisions."

    (Lawro, speaking to the BBC)

Trouble is, though, Lawro, that it's not just 'Pool's dreadful form in the league, is it? There's Klan-gate, and the signings of Carroll, Charlie Adam, Henderson, and Downing.

The Yanks have to ask themselves one very simple question: "Do we trust this man after the hash he's made of this season?"

I'd be very surprised if they can answer that question in the affirmative.

You can put in as many good words as you like for your old buddy, Lawro, but its not a £100 million of your money that the aging buffoon has blown, is it!

As somebody said, sacking him at the end of the season is going to be tough because of his reputation around Klanfield, so he'll more likely continue to do damage this summer and into the new season - sort of like how Hoddle did for us.

  3. Exactly!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, club legends can do more damage to a club because there is a natural reluctance to get rid of the manager at the point at which the proper decision ought to be made. Instead, the club hangs on, out of deference to what the manager means to the club's faithful, and always ends up suffering as a result.

The worst thing the Yanks can do is believe that, somehow, the Queen can pull this round, and give him until the end of the season. My betting is that they'll wait to see what happens in the FA Cup. If 'Pool go out to Everton, they should - if their business model means anything to them, at all - sack him immediately after that. If they don't, they will be permitting him to do irreparable damage to the club.

    Isn't Comolli responsible for signings?

Carroll, Henderson, Downing and Adam stink of Comolli.

I think he will go in the summer. I cant see the point in sacking him now, its too close to the semi against Everton and I think his sacking would cause too much unrest.

I think the money he has spent will ultimately be his downfall.

I for one hopes he stays at Liverpool for a long long time :)

The signings are Dalglish signings, though - a battering ram forward, a winger that's known for putting crosses in, and a couple of donkeys that run around for 90 minutes.

The most damaging thing for me was the way that Gerrard waved him away when he came onto the pitch, following the Reina dismissal.
Another case of John Terry-itis, I think.

When players get that powerful they intimidate their own team mates and inhibit performance. As good as they are as individuals I would not have them in my team for that reason alone.

I saw a stat on the Liverpool board earlier that suggested that their results have suffered badly since Gerrard's return to the starting line-up.
It was something like W1-D5-L4, if I remember correctly.
    I assume that's league games.

Similar was said last season - their players seem to adopt the attitude of "Stevie G will bail us out again" and switch off, whilst they put in the extra effort when he's out injured/suspended/getting imprisoned for ABH.

  13. Possibly. But I refuse to believe that the club would sign any player without Kenny giving it the thumbs-up.

Gerrard has looked very ordinary this season and the team is no better with him in it. He should have left long ago, but now he is trapped in this spiral of despair. The players who Dalglish should have had the most effect on, the Scousers in the side, have just not improved. Kenny is their Hoddle though so he will be given more time...

He bottled out of a move to Chelsea for fear that some bloke and his seven mates might kick the crap out of him when he was on a night out in retaliation for it...

A very good friend of mine played for Birmingham when Karren Brady first started there. At the time, Barry Fry was the manager, and my mate, Liam Daish, who was their CB then, used to tell me that Fry would tell Brady to **** off every morning, then again in the afternoon, and then for good measure, he'd tell her to **** off in the evening as well <laugh>
