I won't be up for the build up (unless my night out becomes an all-nighter). I'm setting the alarm for 5.55.
I'll be up for free practice and the quali build up. I was up at 1.25am and 5.25am this morning. That was an interesting day at work. The McLaren does sound like the morning after a good night out followed by vindaloo but it does seem to be running much better than we could have hoped for.
Ok then I will see you AbsolutelyGlorious and McWilliams Tomorrow and everyone else. As Sebastian Vettel said after Abu Dhabi 2010 Qualifying....... Had a good day today and I will see you all tomorrow but for now I am Over and Out.
I stayed up until 3am last night, had a few coffees between 12 and 1.30, and then couldn't sleep between P1 and P2. I haven't slept since 7am yesterday and I'm off out in a little while. Sport in Australia will be the death of me, at least the F1 only lasts about ten hours over three days; the Ashes was brutal.
Thanks for this. A very clean lap with only two serouslytiny errors! Of course, there are a lot of other good drivers who are capable of a lap like that, but Hamilton is smooth as a baby's Button in this video.
Yes McWilliams, I agree with your comparison with Button here, although one must remember that this is not a particularly fast lap and appears to be in race simulation with plenty of fuel. I'm not certain whether he was activating the rear wing, but I would be very surprised if not. I see no reason for him not to be doing so and of course the on-board shot gives no clue with the McLaren, since its DRS is activated by foot.
Random notes after Practice 3 (caveat: Memory recall is not as easy as it used to be!) Virgin engine change due to bolt dropping into engine: now kaput and no dispensation regardless of whether Cosworth were at fault. Maldonado error: probably caused by brake bias too much to rears. Renault turning vane (attached to brake duct): failure could be more trouble for rest of weekend. Alonso looking untidy early on. Good lap from Button on Options but Webber achieves similar time on Primes! Williams session is looking poor. Perez coasts into pits. Unknown problem as I write. Great lap from Vettel to go P1. I believe was on Primes. Schumacher appears to be struggling with workload and frustrated at Toro Rosso driver. - Silly. Should know better than to get angry by now. Alonso still looking rather untidy. Massa messy: has simply not turned up yet. Is he feeling the pressure? Vettel's front wing suffers light damage to outer edge. Probably end-plate. Is the Red Bull a bit fragile? Karthikeyan managesd to get around the whole track but is dangerously slow. Surely cannot be given dispensation for qualifying where I cannot see them even close to 107%. Rosberg unsure of best place for KERS deployment. Petrov doing well. Hamilton decent lap on Options; currently 0.2 off pace but I expect Red Bull to easily better this if they feel like it. Vettel monstrous time! Petrov slight off shows he's pushing hard. Back it off mentally Vitaly. Come down 5%. Conclusions: Red Bull will continue to dominate. McLaren showing strength in recovery. Ferrari looks like two different teams. Mercedes looking strong, particularly in Rosberg. Schumacher not quite there yet. Williams and HRT must be extremely frustrated. Good luck to them all. é
Oh got Moltisanti and Canary f1 looking at this thread... Phewww I thought I came online with nobody on here....
Back to back all nighters. Beer isn't going to get the job the job the done, a couple of Jagerbombs should get me through quali, then a hard earned hibernation.
I do think I may have shot my load a little early, I have 8 cans of Carlsberg on the go, I think I may have a gone a little OTT and with further Danish tomfoolery on the menu for 7am Sunday, I may have to take the day off work Monday. Did anyone get my "Indeed" gag????!?!!?!?
Remember the slowest seven drivers will be knocked out in Q1 and Q2, with the remaining 10 drivers left for the Q3 shoot-out. A rule new brought in for this season is that drivers who fail to set a time within 107% of the fastest time in Q1, will not be allowed to take part in the race.
