    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tells-Luka-Modric-Tottenham-massive-club.html

Slaven Bilic has warned Luka Modric to think carefully about his next move as the Tottenham midfielder is already playing at a massive club.

The Croatia boss has urged Modric - who has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane - to leave for the right reasons, but to remember great players have had successful careers at the club.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has signalled his interest a year after the north Londoners successfully resisted the challenge from Chelsea to retain the services of their midfielder.

'I have spoken with Luka and I will respect whatever he decides to do,' Bilic said in The Sun after watching Modric in action during the 3-1 victory over Swansea on Sunday.

'But I did say to him he's already at a massive club at Tottenham. Everyone knows huge clubs are interested in Luka but what I said was he should not forget how big Tottenham are.

'Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle spent many years here and are proud to have played for this club. If he decides to leave then Luka should do it for the right reasons.'

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that the Etihad Stadium club's money could pose a problem in his side's quest to keep their influential playmaker.

City boss Roberto Mancini was quoted as saying: 'It is by no means easy to get him because he plays for a big club. Luka Modric is an outstanding footballer, definitely one of the best in the Premier League.'

Modric looks set to be the subject of interest again this summer with City, Chelsea and Manchester United all in the frame to tempt him away from Spurs.

Redknapp said: 'We want to keep him, we need to keep him. We love Luka - he's a fantastic player.'

But the 65-year-old's words came with a stark warning. City have the financial clout to more than quadruple Modric's current wages - understood to be about £50,000 a week.

The Spurs boss admitted: 'Only Luka knows what he wants to do with his life. But if someone is going to offer £200,000 a week it could probably turn his head.'

Well if he does go, surely a barnstorming end to the season can only further increase his value. I just hope another tilt at the Champions League persuades the team to stay together.

  3. Again, it boils my blood that Harry is mentioning "£200k a week." Who the hell at £ity is mentioning that kind of money?

Why doesn't Harry just say that we're not selling him, and leave it at that?

Good on Billic, though. Do you reckon he's making a subtle play for the Spurs job?

Think its time for Levy to have a chat with Harry re media comments- just say he's happy here and not for sale.
But of course Harry can't do that loves a chat too much.
Might be on the B list- think he's just trying to deflect the pressure off Luka.

    Bilic for next Tottenham manager?

Wouldn't be the worst choice, in my opinion.

The same story is in the 'currant bun' today, if HR were to leave, Bilic would be one manager who Mod would stay for, but as far as club management goes a real punt.

  7. Croatia isn't in the Euros, so I understand. He'd be able to start as soon as Harry has packed his bag for Prague.

is he big enough for some of the other stars wanting to stay though? i think so..id consider him on tht basis alone..this team must stay together..we have forever in my lifetime bought world class players only to sell them on for the benefit of other teams....plus he has done a decent job for Croatia and like YV said..we could do alot worse.

  10. It's clear to me that the likes of Bale, Defoe, VDV, Livermore, Walker, Parker, THudd, and other stars will stay at Spurs, because they love what we're becoming. Therefore, getting Billic in as manager wouldn't make any real difference to them. However, I think he would be a massive reason for Moddy to stay. And Moddy staying would be a massive reason why our squad will keep moving forward, and why we will eventually win the EPL title.

Charlie left in part because he felt he needed to play regular football so he doesn't lose his place in the Croatia team for the Euros!

Why's 'Arry going to Prague, stag do?

    ...?

Somehow you've confused Croatia with the combined footballing teams of Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Macedonia.

All that time I spent learning geography at school then they changed all the bloody names. Then they changed the money, the temperature scale, the measurements, in fact they changed everything, instead of wasting all that time at school they could just have given me google and let me concentrate on improving my football skills.
