See daft arse is quoted in the papers this morning as saying Ben Arfa is as good as Messi :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I mean come on, who is he trying to kid? Ben Arfa is OK, has a lot to learn and a lot more to do before i would rate him as even good, but to compare him with Messi????? no chance, could lace the blokes boots.

Oh, and he also mentioned him with Suarez but by that i think he was referring to being a cheating ****.

In fairness... HBA is a special player at a club like Newcastle, much like Sess at us. I'll give pardew that. But if you threw either one into that barca side they'd be sub-standard. I quite like pardew. He's doing an unbelievable job considering he was relatively unproven but he needs to shut the duck up before saying something as idiotic as that.

Comparing anyone on the planet to Messi is ridiculous.

    Simple.

In fairness he didn't say that Ben Arfa is as good as Messi, he said that sometimes the magic he comes up with reminds him of Messi, obviously Messi is an immeasurably better player and has been doing it week on week for years, Pardew would be the first to admit that. Obviously this leaves Pardew open to a bit of grief still but he is doing his job, getting his player's confidence up by comparing him favourably with the most talented on the planet.

He said at times the stuff he does with the ball is as magical as Messi. Blatantly not saying he is as good as Messi as he can't produce it all the time like Messi can. Don't think you can argue with it to be honest, watch the MOTD2 analysis from last week, some of what he did was extremely Messi-esque.

Maybe it is because he stands out in an ordinary team, like Andy carrol !. £35 m !. Anyway Sess and Mclean are better players than him, and wait till next season !. But Messi being the best player ever, that is a tough one, Maradonna, Pele, Cruyff, Beckenbaur, Best, Muller, Ronaldo, Jimmy greaves, Shack, Daglish, Keegan, Paserrella the list goes on.

Yes we are on "ordinary" top 6 team, with one of the top scorers in the division and the man with the best goals per game ratio in the prem <laugh> . Don't embarass yourself.

Why don't any of you read properly?

The headlines, or anything the journo said, has been put together by the journalist. These are the only words out of Pardew's mouth on the subject:

He didn't say he's as good as Messi, he simply said that, sometimes, he can pull off dribbles or other things Messi is capable of, and he's right. Just because it's Messi it doesn't mean that the things he does are automatically 10x better by default. If Ben Arfa dribbles through 5 or 6 players and scores (i.e. Blackburn) then it's just as good as Messi dribbling through 5 or 6 players and scoring.

Ben Arfa ain't anywhere near as good as Messi but sometimes he can indeed pull off moments of magic which you would expect to see Messi doing as well.

Because it's just common sense, and quite clear what he really said. Misinterpreting his comments or taking the journo-generated headline as gospel just makes you look stupid and naive.
