tbh man city have so much depth especially in the striker department they could field two teams of full internationals so i find that hard to believe. With regards to the january transfer window we tried to get podolski but he wanted to remain in koln so as not to jeopardize his chances in the euros and vertonghen wanted to finish the season at ajax. About other targets i would refer to this guy. In my experience he has never been wrong as yet and was the first one to come up with our link to AOC.

  2. Stupid question - I am not a scout and do not have any information on contract situations across the globe. To suggest that not a single full back could have been brought in on loan from anywhere in the world that would of helped us avoid playing midfielders and CB's in that position is frankly, dumb.

i agree coquelin is a better prospect but song has experience which could prove invaluable and we also come back to the question of depth. We need atleast two defensive midfielders and i'm personally not fully convinced by frimpong yet unless ofcourse his demands are unreasonable which they are reportedly not.

its a bit of an interesting predicament with regard to our defensive midfield prospects we have coquelin who imo is far ahead of the rest then we have frimpong who i think is a bit over rated and then theres eastmond who i wrote off but some of the comments i read from wycombe fans on their forums makes me think theres still hope for him and he appears to have matured quite a bit, they're actually using words like 'phenomenal' and midfield beast to describe him who has a calming influence! Then ofcourse theres yennaris who i really like and is something of a dark horse. I actually think contrary to popular belief wenger doesnt have enough faith in some of our youngsters!

  6. It's interesting, because prior to yesterday, during our recent run Song was forward far less. But yesterday he just lost all discipline - but then our whole midfield had no shape at all. It was a free for all.

I've been saying this for ages- and I mostly get dismissive remarks like ' so you know better than Wenger' or 'Song makes fantastic creative assists' . Few talk about the acres he leaves behind when he abandons post. Nor the many more wasted passes that MIGHT have been brilliant. Stand by for attack.

There has been an improvement- time was when I thought he might get a RED every match. He has stopped some of the wild lunges.

Cisse at £9m is doing a great job. What was someone saying about it being difficult to buy good players in January ???

Total nonsense, there are loads of god players out there.

We don't need gods, we need players who can do a job.

Apart from when he was further forward creating chances and providing defence splitting passes for RVP and Walcott to score goals of course.

So you're coping out of the question then ?

I didn't say 'not a single full back could have been brought in' I asked you which fullback we could have signed in January ?

You can't just say 'Oh anyone other than playing our CB's there'. It's far more complex than that.

Firstly you need to identify a player who is better than what we've got, then see if he's available. Then negotiate with the selling club and the player. Is it a permanent signing or a loan signing ? If it's permanent, then he displaces one of our own players, or sits on the bench ? Not really an attractive proposition for either player. If it's a loan signing, then why is he not playing for his club? Again - that suggests that he wouldn't be of the required standard. Also, if it's a loan signing. How long would it take for that player to settle in and get used to our game? What happens if he makes mistakes for the first two or three games? Do you give him time to settle, whilst waiting for our established players to return? By that time, he might not be needed anyway. Take a look around the league to see how many players move in January and it will tell you how difficult the window is. Simply shoehorning 'anyone' in there could create more problems that it solves. If Wenger had brought in a dud in Jan, you would be accusing him of panic buying. If he brought in a loan player who wasn't of the required standard simply to 'fill a hole' and that player didn't adjust in time, you'd be accusing him of panicking again.

I think you over simplify the complexities of the transfer market in order to criticise wenger, when in fact the reality of the situation bears little resemblance to simply going out and plucking whichever player you want, when you want.

Jayram - ignore the troll my friend, he's a muppet - what he thinks is irrelevant.

Plenty of players out there to be bought - others do it.

  15. Not that much of the time as our record shows my friend.

And then it seems we find the ones who are not available. Keep remembering that mantra ........ I think the twit Gazidis started it but as it appears some like to run with it.

Who then ? You go on about 'plenty of players out there' yet you can't even name one !

Who could we have added that would have improved the quality at in the full back position, who was available in January ?

You have forgone the right to debate with me, probably best you don't address me at all because you get no respect from me whatsoever, so to avoid a torrent of abuse from me, don't bother address me.
