After the slightly disappointing news of the Cat 2 stuff earlier, this has brightened things up a tad. A little overdue in my book, but it does tie in quite nicely with the 50th anniversary thing too.

Sir Alf opposite Sir Bobby, I like that.

    Please Yorkie <doh>

The 2 greatest Ipswich and England managers, it is right that on the 50th Anniversary of becoming the champions of England we should rightly honour Sir Alf Ramsey. It will be a very emotional day tomorrow!

We have the 2 greatest ever England managers immortalised with statues and and stands. Not bad for a small club in sleepy Suffolk. Others try to emulate but none will ever get close to what we have achieved. The Delia Smith stand... <laugh> Do me a favour! <doh>

On the other hand, "The Robert Chase Memorial Stand" would work...

Good idea that....or maybe you should wait a few years until he has won you the league title or FA cup, a European trophy or maybe Scotland the world cup.......or you could just honour him for winning you division 3..!

You never know you guys may have in 10 to 15 years’ time your own history to bang on about, you know how it goes, a small club punching above their weight, winning trophy's.....then again maybe not..!

football isn't what it was in the 80s, Norwich are hardly likely to have the opportunity to win a euro cup !

Weve named the North Stand after Sir Bobby Robson, the South Stand after Sir Alf Ramsey, how about naming the toilets after Roy Keane? Just a thought.

Just thought I would see what topical issues were being discussed on the opposition boards and I see that you have reached the late 70's. I'll come back again when you are in the same century as us and everybody else.

    Love this idea!!!

Thurnby Canary, I would like you to get more involved so we shall talk a bit more about this century...... Does anyone think George Burley should have anything named after him for getting us into europe twice, beating inter milan and finishing 5th in the premierleague??

nice touch by your club to name both stands after your legendary managers. question: why was this not done sooner?

Well aside from it being a daft question, the old North and Churchman stands didn't really lend themselves to a tribute.

I am quite cynical and think it has only been done now as a desperately needed PR boost.

50 Years since WINNING the league championship makes perfect timing <ok> Sir Alf already has a statue and a road named after him so waiting for the 50th Anniversary to unveil his name on the South Stand makes perfect sense! I amazed that Yorkie is cynical enough to believe that this is just a cheap PR stunt! I prefer to take this at face value and rejoice at honouring the great man.
