Rebel, a serious question, why do you say it is the "last order" you would have expected it from? I assume that doesn't mean you half expect it from other orders?
No, its not that I would expect it from another order, its just that to become a Jesuit is possibly amongst the most difficult of orders to join. You have to study for a lot longer, in a lot more detail and give up a lot more than a lot of other orders. Amongst Jesuits, the idea of Liberation Theology is promoted. Where the people are taught to stand up and better themselves through education and through questioning the system. They have a real social conscience, moreso than other orders which makes me think that the type of person who would join that order wouldn't be the type of person pre disposed to do such a thing. To be honest, this one has hit me harder than any of the other scandals. I genuinely find it hard to accept.
The whole plethora of preists pumping weans comes down to one thing.... the suppresson of sexual activity leading to perversion. We only hear about has been made public just imagine how many priestly kiddie fiddlers are out there....
It could very well be for these guys. i can see how it happens. in other orders. How the type of person who might do these things can put themselves in a position to undertake these evil acts. It just doesn't add up for me in this instance. It is the one order I though would come out of all of this with their reputation intact. i was obviously wrong.
The Catholic Church has so far since its inception paid out billions in "hush hush" money to victims.
You can see how it happens? Communal wine, soft music, the story of Sodom?.... Any **** who thinks he'll be closer to God by doing things another human has told him to do is a strange bunny in my eyes. I do respect them in a way though. (The proper priests, not the mangey Charlie's.)

I don't agree with that at all It isn't the suppression of sexual activity, but the suppression of sexual exploration at a younger age. The vow of chastity is not the problem.
