I was listening to the game and decided to stay tuned in to canary call. Normally I wouldnt have bothered as its usually a load of berks who get on my tits!

Did any one hear it yesterday? I dont normaly agree with Rob Buttler and I wonder how the hell he got to be on the radio but yesterday he said something that i agreed with!

He had a caller on the show who was saying about chris martin and how we could have done with him yesterday, he agreed and was saying about his proformances in the last couple of years.

Mr Buttler had a valid point. He said something like we had had Martin on the bench i feel it would have been another option than Wilbraham. He is good in the air, with free kicks 90% of the time he hits the target he works hard for the team and he is a great player.

I no he has had a bad press at times with fighting etc etc but do you guys think his days are numbered at the club? Or has he just been let out to get some game time? I maybe being sentimental as he is a local lad. But i would really like him to stay a norwich player. I feel that like last time when he was on loan he will come back a better player and be great for us next year.

Some people would like him to stay but in reality is he going to improve our squad considerably for next season? he has value to sell so we could get money to go with what we have and buy an even better striker than what we already have!

I've always rated chrissy and I think he could do a job for us. All depends on Lamberts plans I guess.

I'm not sure about Chrissie. Have great memories of his goals: especially against Col U and Leeds, but he's not setting the Championship alight at Palace. (Okay I know he's probably not getting the service). Also, I'm pleased Lambert had no alternative but to put Alby on yesterday! He's clearly a popular player and Lambert has said that he's worth more to the squad in the dressing room than we fans realise. Never thought I'd say this, but I'd rather have Alby than Martin.

hes as good as everyone else we have Jackson, Morison, Wilbraham, but obviously Lambo does not rate him so I think he will go. We need someone new have waited all season for poor old Vaughan but if he aint going to get fit and stay fit its time to move on and get someone in to help the front line

Neither martin or wilbs will be good enough for us next season. If were wanting to stay up then our front line needs major work done on it!

Dont think you'll see Alby, Martin or Morison in a city shirt next season.
I think that 90% of his budget will go on new strikers.

martin is not premiership quality and if we wish to improve our squad he needs to be replaced. he was great in league 1, moderate in league 2 and ignored in premier, and this is about right, sorry to say but i think the championship is his level for now.

Whilst I agree to a point Chippy, now that we have the record for conceeding in consecutive away game, the defence needs a review!

I agree totally. All players have a level that they can perform at and Chris Martin's is in the Championship. I do think he is a confidence player as well. In League one he was banging in goals and he always looked like he would score, in the Championship the goals dried up and he didn't look like scoring.

jarrold, I think PL does rate him if you are talking about pure striking ability. I have several times heard him say that CM is a natural finisher, one of the best PL has worked with. Unfortunately his undoubted striking ability is too often neutralised by other factors, that's the problem. He wouldn't be the first talented City player you might like to have on the field but not in your dressing room.

Seriously Surgeryman??? Weve just spent £3mil on a CB, weve got ayala to come back hopefully whitbread will sign on. Weve got tierney to come back which to be honest has been a massive miss for us down that left. Weve got one of the best young wingbacks in the country on loan and hopefully we can come to some agreement to make it full time! How on earth are we meant to improve that????

Whats got us to where we are now, keeping cleen sheets or scoring goals? I know what it is and now there drying up and its slightly concerning and is our main first port of call for next season... our strike force has to be massively improved for next season!

With regards to C. Martin, although I think he could do a job, I wouldn't want him in the squad if PL doesn't.

Martin's attitude (not his ability) has cost him the chance to play Premiership football with us, in the same way (but to a lesser extent) that PL wouldn't splash out on the likes of Barton.

I would rather have Chris Martin from Coldplay in that dressing room!

Do you think he likes being refered to as 'Chrissie' ? Makes him sound one hell of a woos and if I were him it would make my skin crawl. Then again who knows, he may well bat for the other side and quite like it ;)

Have to say I am coming to the conclusion that I probably agree with that. Every season Lambo has improved the squad in all areas and moved us up a level and I think the level he will be looking for us to move to next year will be a higher one than those guys are capable. Although the goals have dried up for him Jackson still looks like he can do a job to me, as can Holty obviously and surely Vaughan must get himself fit at some point and when he does he can definitely do a job but I'd be amazed if Lambo didn't go out and buy two better strikers than any of those three this summer.

I've been a big defender of Morison all season, and I know players are entitled to drift out of form from time to time but he really looks like he's struggling to me and I'm really starting to have doubts as to whether he is going to be good enough to take us to that next level. I actually think Chrissy Martin is a better footballer than him, but again I don't think he offers us enough to be a big part of our future plans.

    Agreed
Who we get is another matter of course. Our defence looks to have improved considerably whereas the goalscoring has gone backwards.
I would love Martin to be that remedy. Can he? I think he is better than Morison or certainly no worse. Jackson is not the answer and neither is Wilbraham but good luck to them, two seasons ago they could not have dreamed of scoring in the Prem. I hoped Vaughan was going to be the one to play alongside Holt and be replaced after an hour but it isn't happening. I think we need a specialist report on his overall fitness or let him go. We can't waste valuable wages on a crock.
I think we need a finisher. Where we get one from is a guess really. Fletcher at Wolves will be available but is he an out and out scorer? He is certainly a player in the PL mould. Rhodes will be on everyones watch list especially if the Terriers don't make it up. I expect the Blades will want to keep hold of Ched. Rodriguez looks useful but a lot of his goals have come in the cups, he hasn't got 20 in the league. How about McCormack at Leeds? Seems a bit of a fox in the box. Would Leeds take kindly to us raiding them again. Especially with Colin at the helm.
I don't envy PL in his task. If any signing doesn't work out, its bad but a striker has so many hopes pinned on him its doubly upsetting.
I'm plumping for Chris MArtin to get a new lease of life and be the answer. But there again I'm nearly bottom of the prediction league.

The problem is, with players going down ie Fletcher, Moses, Jarvis etc they are going to be on and will want more than we can offer wage wise. Our striker will come from the lower leagues again but we did get warned about morison with his dips in form and how he struggles to get out of them. Martin will not be the answer. I would only keep Vaughan holt and jackson and as you say get 2 better than them but they wont come cheap. I see we've been linked with Rhodes again and I would like to think we could get him but I would say its unlikely.
