After kuyt's quote Liverpool must now win the match. Kuyt said our team was better than Newcastle's and therefore we must win. What is he basing that assessment on? Certainly not the league table. Isn't this a tad disrespectful to the barcodes?
Yes it is, but so is saying that we've "always been amongst the mid/lower teams", which plain and simply isn't true at all.
I must be from another generation because i don't see Newcastle as a mid-table club doing well but a top club who've had some lows. What disappoints me about one the country's best sets of supporters is how they boo a player who loved the club, didn't want to leave and didn't ask to leave but was sold by an owner they all despised, at least before this season. That's just a lack of class. Players who are simply sold, like Crouch or Alonso, get welcomed back to Anfield. Players who request a transfer, like Torres, don't. Carroll deserves better from them.
I agree with you muppetfinder. I think its a shame that newcastle fans felt the need to boo Carroll, he was good for us and left in controversial circumstances for a good fee. Enrique is a different story, he left by forcing through a transfer and refusing to sign a new comment and then made numerous comments about the club (the heirarchy rather than the fans). I'm not suprised Newcastle won today, generally we beat you guys at home and lose to you at Anfield. I think there's a good chance you'll finish above us next season but you look a long way from top 4 and no amount of complaining about bad luck (either today or for the entire season) changes the fact you've got some serious issues.
Well, no one knows if that's true. There are many stories, the official one being that Carroll handed in a transfer request. Beyond that, everything heard is just speculation or rumour.
I would hope that, after today, some of you will adjust your expectations. The Toon are not your rivals. Everton, Sunderland and Fulham are
Carroll put in a transfer request, and any charade of love he claimed he felt for Newcastle died when he dived and tried to cheat us.
Sorry but how old are you? We have were european regulars for quite some time. The fact is we have had a bad 7 years and were back where we belong. We should be in the top 7 every season.
This Carroll debate emerges all the time. I still can't wrap my head around the thought that he was forced to go into some office with Ashley, Llambias and his agent on transfer deadline day in which he was innocently protesting his wish to stay while the 3 greedy businessmen used his naivete to force his hand and eventually bundle him into a helicopter. It's just too weird for me to even try to believe especially when compared to the far more likely story that has since been told to us by our manager which is that he pulled Carroll to one side and asked him stay or go, Carroll said go and so Pardew told the MD.
I think there was more to it than that. Didn't he want a pay rise or something, which Ashley wouldn't give him until the summer? Think Pardew said that. So he asked to speak to Liverpool since they'd offered to double his salary.
Either way, he wasn't forced out of the club like he claimed. He had just been given a new contract, and then demanded more money because Liverpool were offering more. I don't even know how he knew how much LFC were offering, unless he had been tapped up.
