Not for a long time have the barcodes been seen as our direct competitors. We are among the top and elite clubs and teams of the land. Newcastle have always been among the mid table or lower placed teams. Yet these days we are moving in those unenviable circles. I feel that we have to beat them today. How significant would a Good or bad result against them be?
We are playing for pride in the league and the players need to turn up. Technically we won't get 4th and are already in Europe so it means nothing other than the fact that those players should put a shift in every time they put on that shirt. They should all be aware that they re playing for a starting place in an FA Cup semi and maybe a final.
It maybe so but the league is our bread and butter. Look at how Sunderland battled yesterday even though they apparently had nothing to play for but pride. I hope that the Carling Cup curse does not strike again (Birmingham ...) but this run is the worst we have had in 20 years! If our players cannot be motivated to play a team like Newcastle who have replaced us as challengers for a champions league place then something is badly wrong!
Newcastle may be ahead at this moment, but cream rises to the top. We will recover, just a matter of time.
Based on what? Come on. If you compare the two quads their's is better overall. A lot of happy clappy phrases doesn't get us anywhere.
Either of you really? I don't see what basis we can say cream rises. We have been ****e this year. Turds float I suppose!
Get out of bed the wrong side? Doughnut. Newcastle have a better squad? Don't think so. We have underperformed. We have new owners, whose ambition is to take Liverpool into the top four and beyond. When Kenny took over the squad needed an overhaul. Some of the players have been a success, some have failed to convince. (not unusual) Enrique, Bellamy, Suarez, and to some extent Carroll and Downing all contribute. Carroll and Downing have been showing signs that they are settling, any one who has played football knows it can be hard to play in a new team, especially a team where there are better players and bigger ego's. In the close season we will not have to rebuild again, the new players will be more settled. We have a solid back 5 with good back-up, Lucas will be back, who we have really missed (could allow Gerrard to play in more advanced role), and we will make investment in the summer, perhaps a creative mid, right winger and striker. Players like Carroll, Adam etc may become squad players, and will have to fight to get games, very heathly. We are not far away from a great team. I am convinced we will be much better next season. Cream Rises.
Hope you are right. I do not understand this totally subjective assessment of the current situation. Kenny and some fans say we are playing better improved football. Based on what? By all objective accounts this is very debatable. We are further away now from the leaders this year and from a champions league place than last season. The points are all there to see. So what is the justification to sAy we have a better team? More costly yes! We have won a cup some say including Kenny. But hang on. Winning the Carling this year means we have a better team? Ask Birmingham City supporters. They won the CC the last time but did hey have a better team? Cream rises to the top but does this apply to our team ?
But I think this is based in what we all wish rather than an objective assessment of the current situation. A true case of the heart ruling the head.
Only time will tell, I will bet you £100 we finish above Newcastle next season, putting my money where my mouth is, so to speak.
Nothing like being positive before a game eh? As usual I'm looking forward to it. Damn subjectivity...Kenny must have brainwashed me. Going for a good game & a good WIN! Woohoo!
I know! I have a hangover for the 2nd day running and I'm still in a good mood pre-game! We'll tear them a new one.!!
