Can't expect the winning run to go on forever but it's was disappointing the manner of defeat Regardless of today I've been saying for a while I've lost any faith in Ramsey as a player!! Admittley left wing isn't his position but he seemed to run inside alot and when he was there he was typically wasteful....his little flicks rarely come off, his shooting often off target, has no upper body strength to challenge/tackle to get the ball back. I think AOC is amazing and like Rooney surprisingly robust and why not use him on the left hand side when it's more of fit than forcing Ramsey won't be sole but he needs to be pushed back down the pecking order...Wislhere, Coquelin, AOC and even Frimpong are IMO all ahead of him as it stands and he needs to actually earn his place the side
today confirms for me that Wenger does weird things, that we are still muscled out of things, that we let 'in yer face' tactics make us lose our heads, that Ramsey has NOT got any form back ( boohoo) , that we leave great gaps in front of our CBs.......
Ramsey's just not very good and as soon as Wilshere comes back, he shouldn't get much game time at all. Wouldn't exactly be upset to see Ramsey leave in summer.
I'd persevere with Ramsey, admittedly he has looked quite bad but I remember how good he looked before that neanderthal broke his ankle. Ramsey I think has a place but it isn't out wide it is in the centre .. but when will he be able to play there ? I like the way he plays generally, the runs he makes, his shooting with either foot, he has a lot of talent, he just needs to get some consistency.
i really dont know what he sees in Ramsey. I have NEVER , EVER seen him play anything other than , at best , average. Most games i see him bolloxing every pass up , shooting wide , stopping play dead at the edge of the box. He is sooooo , not good for arsenal . The most annoying thing for me is that when he cocks up he looks like hes not even feckin bothered .
Before the injury: Sheff Utd (H),Portsmouth(A),Olympiacos (A), Portsmouth (A) and West Ham (A). After the injury: Manchester United (H),Chelsea (A),Aston Villa (H), BORUSSIA DORTMUND (H) and Wigan (A). In all those games he was either outstanding or very good. To say you have never seen him play anything other then average is absurd.
I haven't seen the game, but when I heard that Ramsey was in the team I thought this could be tricky. The recent run has been characterised by fast flowing passing football. But Ramsey is a ditherer, often causing us to loose forard momentum. Too often he plays the sideways or backwards pass, seldom sees the best available option. SCores the odd goal b ut misses loads as well. Farm himn out to Burnley or Bolton for a whole season.
I think regular football at a lower level is what he needs. Assess him then to see if he can come back, but no way should he be anywhere near the Arsenal squad at the moment. I feel sorry for him because before his injury he was developing, but I fear his career at the top level is over.
outstanding ? Really . maybe your definition of outstanding differs to mine then . And Teng s description is correct " ditherer " sums the lad up .
Yes, outstanding. Maybe my memory is just better then yours. Olympiacos away should stand out for any Arsenal fan. He bossed our midfield on his own and played some beautiful through balls. Even United at home last season should stand out. Him and Wilshere combined brilliantly and won us the midfield battle in that game and Ramsey went on to get the winner.
Come on SJW - he isn't good enough any more despite what he may have done in the past. The injury has clearly slowed him and it looks as though he has less bite when tackling. In fact he looks very weak. It is a shame but that's just how it is. He shouldn't be near our team.
"Him and Wilshere combined brilliantly ....." ah now i see . thanks. btw i dont want to get misunderstood that i am blaming him for todays pi$$ poor performance. Many of the players looked off the pace. But to me he is consistently dissapointing and he should NOT be starting games whilst better players are warming the bench..
See what? Two of our best young players finally being able to play in the same team. When Fabregas left, we should have had Wilshere and Ramsey to help cover that absence. But, Rasmey has had to do that on his own. And it's clear that he was not ready. But as seen against Chelsea, the kid does have the talent.
The point is he is having a shocker and we cannot be carrying players like this - if he isn't good enough he should not be in the team. I have had enough of Wengers young players choking at vital times season after season.
Playing in his natural role might help. He is midfielder, god knows what he was doing on the left. Against Everton, he started slowly but grew into that game. Ramsey before the injury played alongside Song with Fabregas ahead of them two. Ramsey was box to box. This season he was meant to be the creative point and was not ready.
i will just expand on that and you might spot the problem . Young player in having a poor/average season shocker but still starts every game regardless . Truly outstanding young player sits on bench watching shocker . you sound like we should just shrug our shoulders and say , oh well , hes having a poor season , never mind . ho hum , maybe next year he will be better . we need to WIN games , not carry deadweight .
Don't gloss over the fact he has been below par when playing centrally this year. It's not just today's game. He simply is not good enough to be playing for us. Whether he will be in the future only time will tell, but if Wenger continues to let him learn on the job at the highest level, we will get many more days like today.
No, but he was still poor. At the very least he could have chased back to help defensively buy he didn't even work hard.
