Just watched Match of The Day. This lad is probably one of the most skillful players ever to wear the shirt. I would break the bank to keep him. Enough said
Between him and Bendtner for motm today. I gave it to Bendtner as this was his best game in a red & white shirt.
I will actually be heartbroken if he leaves. Even more so than when Marco Gabbiadini went to Palace. As a young lad, I actually thought Marco was better than Maradona and wondered why we only got £1.8 million for a player I thought was worth £100 billion. Sess is the real deal, and he probably IS too good for us, but if we can keep him, and get some players of even 85% of his ability around him, then maybe he won't be! I'd love Ellis to dig deep and get the lad on a 4-year extension, will come down to Sess.
Lets be honest though, whats a contract mean these days, yes player gets more money, we seemingly extend it for another year or 2, but they can still bugger off to the highest bidder soon after. Luckily the 25 man squad rule may scupper a bid from the top 4-6 but if not, I dont think we will be able to keep him.
Even if we get another season out of him lets be positive. With a decent start this season we could well have been in with a shout of European football. Sess seems very happy at the moment so has he settled now? He has allegedly bought a house close by the Newcastle french players which may help his family to settle as well. MON appears to be a very popular bloke with everyone he has ever managed he may well persuade Sess to stay longer.
Money will not sway Sess unfortunately...it's all about location location... I genuinely fear he will be gone in the summer for around £15m.... As for Bendtner, it's a hard one to call as he's disappointed me in the main but has played alot better recently. Personally i'd get shot of him as even if he played well all season I don't think he's a 15 to 20 goal a season man and that's what we need desparately...
One of two things will happen. 1) He signs an extension and stays at the club for at least another season 2) He wants to go and we sell him for a fortune. Tiz, if we sell for anything less than £25m I'll be fuming. When neanderthals likes of Tiote are being touted for the £15m to £20m mark and Henderson goes for £20m, I'd only be satisfied to see Sess go if we make a kings ransom for him. I'd be much happier to see the lad stay and build a future around him but if he wants to go its pointless forcing the issue.
No chance of getting £25m unfortunately. We were lucky to get £20m for hendo, pretty much everyone who watches football, including most scousers, will tell you we absolutely mugged liverpool there. Kenny got carried away with his money, it won't happen again, it's made them a laughing stock. A more realistic measuring stick is ashley young, similar quality player, but he's a year sess's junior (and if you bear i mind he was sold last summer, he was 2 years younger at point of sale), and he was also proven in the prem for a NUMBER of years.. a young, regular england international (which bumps price up significantly also), and he only went for, apparently, between £15m and £20m. We would be lucky to get £15m for sess I think, which is frankly just not worth it imo. The lad is, in my opinion, the KEY to taking safc to that "next level". If we can convince him sunderland is his home I wouldn't take £25m for him.
