No I aint gonna be testament to early season woes and a reminder to how things can turn about! I`m gonna change nothing til end of season !
If you go into teletext on Sky, they've got the only cards as being Becchio's and both (or should that be all 3?) of Connolly's. There isn't one there for either Dicko or Robbo.
At the moment, the only fans of clubs who are going to be happy with their results today are the Everton fans, the Forest fan and me. The Brom fan will be happy with Wolves result.
Well todays result has kept our season alive even though we will probably have to win 5 of our remaining 6 games to have a chance of making the play-offs. Quite possible but a big ask and draws are no longer any use to us. Will be interesting to see how Sean utilises the squad from now on especially if we keep up the winning habit. Both Troy and Big Chris appear to be on form so anything seems possible. Sixty points seemed well beyond us at the beginning of the season and now I think most supporters would be disappointed if we did not comfortably exceed this. Amazing how expectaions can change. Just read the BBC summary of the match and Sean D says that 'Big Chris has been excellent all season' - if he had we might not need to win 5 more games and might be looking at Reading's results rather than Blackpool's. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17496971 No complaints whatever happens - another season guaranteed in the Championship with several promising youngsters in the wings and Sean Murray - Summer will be good!!!
Poor old Colin. His after match comments suggest that he wasn't too pleased with his team. "I couldn't see us scoring in a brothel today. Watford are a streetwise team and we have been mugged in every department. We were so naive".
Well if anyone fancies us to make the playoffs Sky Bet are offering odds of 50-1 for us to finish top 6. Even though it's a properly tough run in those odds seem a little generous.
I think Warnock has praised us before though.. Sounds like another excellent professional job. I guess we can dream but would need to beat Blackpool and Cardiff I think...
What an amazing day!! i'm sooooo glad i went! Apart from 10 minutes at the end of the first half, we forgot Leeds were there..not just the fans, but the team as well. And apart from the stunning double save and a couple of pushes over the bar, oh and one diving save, Kuszczak had not a lot to do, and for the last 20 minutes, he managed to sneak in waves and acknowledgements to the travelling faithful lol. We were a great crowd, despite being shoved away in the oldest stand in the ground, which is the only part of the ground with pillars! I spent a while chatting to one of the stewards before the game who couldn't believe how much we paid for tickets..and was shocked when i told him how much i had to pay for my 12 year old (£23)...he had a good ol' moan about Ken Bates and said he thought he was supposed to be a shrewd businessman but that there was no real sign of that, and though he didn't want to say too much, it was obvious how much everyone at the club despises him. It didn't seem that they were too happy with Colin either lol. I thought at one point dear Colin was going to burst a blood vessel, poor delusional man! Outstanding players, aside from the obvious Iwelumo, were Deeney and Hogg, who both had fantastic games, and Kuszczak for the 2 great saves. Murray was a little quiet, but worked well when he needed to. I did get worried near the end of the first half that Deeney was struggling a bit, he slowed down, looked uncomfortable and i wasn't sure we'd see him for much longer, but when he was on the ball he was dynamite! The goals were incredible, not because they were particularly good, just because they were scored by Iwelumo..the Hornets went crazy! In fact, the away fans were noisy almost the whole game, and it was surprisingly quiet from the Leeds support..honestly, i thought Leeds fans were more supportive than that..obviously they save it for away games . One of their stands was half empty...though by the time the final whistle came, so was the rest of their ground, apart from the bit tucked away in the corner...coz that's where we were. By the way, though my seat was behind the pillar, we did move when the match started, and the view was much improved. So, all in all, a fantastic day, with nothing negative to report. Can't wait til the Blackpool game on Saturday! I remember that too, they were a miserable bunch! it was terrible, but i moved, so it got better Colin spent most of the match being wound up lol...and screaming at the Ref! Funny, i didn't notice him get booked, but that makes 9 now..not good! Omg, an oscar winning performance! That doesn't surprise me M Frenchie, did you see the pic of my original view? It was one of the most incredible saves ever! And...he even managed to get a goal kick out of it somehow! not at all bad The ball hit him straight in the face and he was flung to the ground. Spent the rest of the game with a pole up his nose! That..was one of the most amazing misses ever! Never seen a ground empty so quickly! i'm shocked!
Glad you had a great day out H. Jon Marks said that it was Dickos 9th booking, but don't they get wiped out in early April sometime? Dan and your little un both got a mention on 3CR, but they couldn't stop themselves from taking calls from Luton fans despite the fact that they weren't even playing. They did manage to get a couple of Watford fans on though who admitted to the fact that they had wanted SD out earlier, but had seen the error of their ways. I think that if you wait until Saturday for the Blackpool game you will have missed it.
you're right, Friday...can someone remind me! lol We heard them...i was listening to 3cr once we got in the car, and we heard all the L*t*n fans...really thought we'd have had an afternoon without listening about them! Hmmpfh! it was great to hear happy Watford fans, and apologetic ones...next they'll have fans on that wanted Iwelumo out!
wow, the match thread on the Leeds board has no posts on it since kick off...shame, they could have posted here
RESULT ! Blackpool is a massive game now, as will be every game in the run in. Hornette_TID - thanks for the summary above, nice to get some info from someone at the game. I can't believe CI scored two, to be fair he has sounded much better recently and compared to the games at the start of the season that I saw he sounds like a new man. Goals can only help too. We might have a cheap man's Emile Heskey on our hands soon ! Leeds and Warnock a match made in heaven.....for us ! Roll on Friday ! GAME ON, the playoff dream rolls on with the sneaky outsiders on the way up !! YELLOWS !!!
I only heard your fans after your second goal. You sat down most of the game; pretty poor when you consider Burnley were stood up singing for 90 minutes even when they got beaten in the last minute. They only brought a few hundred more than you, too. Wrong. The rest of the West Stand and the Kop (where I stand) also have pillars. That's all true. Although I'd certainly not have expected such a cutting verdict from one of our stewards; they're normally the first to eject and harass fans singing anti-Bates songs or taking protest banners into the ground. £23 is cheap for the West Stand, by the way. Most of the time, you'd be paying £36 - you're lucky Watford are categorized as one of our less important games. No concessions allowed in that stand, shockingly. In conclusion, Watford worked very hard today and certainly deserved three points. But if you were streetwise, we were pedestrian. Hoof, hoof, hoof. That was all we had in us. Snodgrass should have scored against the scum bastard Kuszczak. The ref was bad, but not to the extent that he influenced the result. We had no creativity and you punished us. I was amazed you didn't get three with that weird shot-save-hit post-miss-clearance sequence that went on.
Funny you should say that, the people behind me were calling him Emile after the first goal til the end of the game! lol
