Got to say, what on earth is he doing on the bench in an away game? Particularly a tough game. He is all energy/passion, great defensively and a leader. He is great at filling into defence as cover as well and a physical presence.

    We've really missed him today..

your above staement has some credence, but they way you battered the team and Adkins on the match thread, you lose any credibility. We lost. We are top. Move on and get behind the team for the next game.

If 93% of your passes are backwards then you will not win a match.

I think some of you need to understand that the team deserves stick for playing as bad as it did today. Sometimes you need a wake up call, today we were very poor. The team gets praise for winning comfortably, winning ugly and often even for drawing. And praise for losing with heart! When you lose like this you deserve stick. I said Adkins is often poor tactically away from home and that can't be denied. Hardly battering him, I really like Adkins and we wouldn't be in this position without him imo. I still think we'll get in the top 2, I hope they wake up and win the next game against Pompey and show again that they are the good team I believe they are (when Rickie is playing*, without him we look thin in attack I'm sorry to say). you need to relax.

Hammond is a defensive minded midfielder... his job is to keep possession or win possession + protect the defence! I don't expect many assists from him if any..it's not his job in the style we play and the position he plays

Still can't believe the level of stick you throw at them. It is one game out of twelve. You must be brilliant 100% of the time at whatever you do in your life.

Adkins tactically naive away from home??? Thought we'd just won 4 away in a row. You can only judge a team, it's players and managerial tactics over a season..... after 40 games of this one, we are top.

Oh Le God and as for the wake up call, I think I might have said we were bad, I just maybe have a little better way if handling that than you.

Agree with fatletiss completely. They don't deserve praise for today but they don't deserve loads of stick either. Losing only every thirteenth game is fine by me.

Thought Hammond might have suited this game but it was over by half-time anyway.

You're trying to act a smartarse yet comparing different types of players. Hammond is the best option by a mile if we aren't on the front foot in a game which almost never happens when we play away

Sometimes I think people are guilty of forgetting that the guys are people, not robots or machines.

So many of lifes issues would be solved in retrospect and if we all had a crystal ball we could get it right every time but as good as Nigel is he can be forgiven a bad day especially when he so often gets it right

    Totally agree.

I would also add that I think De Ridder is hopeless over-rated by some Saints fans. He has made a few impacts off from the bench but if he plays anymore thatn 30 mins, he strikes me as being pretty poor.

Yesterday nobody seemed to care enough about losing to try and get the team going. That is what made me mad.

Hammomd would be the right person to play in the derby game, he is well aware of what it means to us!

Cork is a Good player but never seems to hold a central position which leaves Morgan and the centre of defence exposed. With Hammond sitting in there it allows the wide players a little more freedom because of the protection he provides. He may not be technically as good but Cork is a little lightweight, we get away with it at home because we tend to dominate possesion.

Hammond wins the ball, offers protection and plays it simple.

If 93% of your passes are forward but don't find a team mate, you are not going to win a match.
