Give me a bit of turf racing, preferably with obstacles in the way, any day of the week. Cheltenham makes this supposed 'World Championships' like the Breeders' Cup and Dubai World Cup look like joke events. Different league.
Even though today was disappointing I can't help but think everything is shaping up nicely for the Minx at Aintree. These races are great markers and their group of mares are impressing whenever they are allowed to run. To be fair, and I'm a huge fan of Miss Green, a stronger jockey may not have allowed that to happen today. Daymar it is then. He has the burden of my money tomorrow.
SNA and SYT will definitely improve for the run lads ................ get on next time lads when they're running in listed races at Goodwood ****ing toss and I'm glad I haven't been backing on those races tonight. SNA + SYT = NASTYS Seen the card at Donny tomorrow? At least there's some decent racing at Ascot tomorrow and we can all back that dog Kings Bayonet in the first PS Fiddling **** Sadik's got one out in the 2nd at Ascot - beware
The one tomorrow is Attenborough in the 5.05 at Donny. I had a look round the Noseda yard on Wednesday and they're confident this one will win. Supposedly a Group horse in the making and running off of 80 in this.
I went to Henderson to do an interview for Student Racing, and I went round Noseda's after a meeting with the head of PR at Newmarket Racecourse to discuss free entry.
At least Opinion Poll won the rearranged Gold Cup - only had 20 on him but it's paid for dinner tonight
You can add Chumpions Day at Ascot to that list of meetings trying to be something better that what it is. I llike the Breeders Cup but feel they have added too many extra, unnecessary races in recent seasons.
At least I had one winner today then, I chose the wrong obrien horse at the last mo, went for wrote instead of DLL altho I said to myself all day I fully expected him to win, I wnt with Wrote coz of moore oh well! live to fight another day
On another note and it's probably not going to happen, I would like to see Daddy Long Legs bypass the Kentucky Derby and go for the 2000 Guineas and Derby at Newmarket and Epsom respectively.
It's very tricky with Joseph and Ballydoyle. How is he going to improve and gain more experience if he doesn't ride in group one's? The conundrum is do they have patience knowing Ryan Moore is theirs if they want him and what importance they place on the obvious strain that would develop within their relationship with the O'Brien family. They've got the weights changed in Ireland to accommodate him so i'd expect at least one more year with Joseph as apparent first choice. Funnily enough I think Jamie Spencer has done nothing but cover himself in glory and he's a big advantage to them when he's in the saddle.
I really like Champions Day. I think it will catch on, the only issue is the proximity to the Arc meeting but they don't have a 12f (other than the mares only) race so it's not a huge issue.
J O'B shouldn't be riding their main horse in Group 1's imho. You have to earn that right by performing on their second string.
Champions Day is an excellent idea in my opinion, but its proximity to the Arc means it is very tricky. Good prizemoney will help.
