Nope they had booed mooney and lisbie`s names then it came to our side and Waggy was booed by a few fans.
Referee at huddersfield was worse imo, oh and cook was superb with his cross, was brilliant. Good performance, I feel so much more confident with Hollands and Stephens in the middle, good game today lads, all in our hands and we will do it! Promotion all but sorted by Easter monday please
oh and for those who didn't spot it I think that the referee signaled Cort's disallowed goal to be for handball.... I didn't see if it hit his hand i was just jumping up and down for a goal
Special word for Hamer. I have been very critical recently but he had two brilliant saves today which kept us in the game. On the other side of the coin it was the worst game I have seen BWP play. He had little service but looked disinterested. Unusual for him but in my view he had a stinker.
If BWPs penalty wasn't and if the disallowed goal was handball then in both cases the players should have been booked for diving and deliberate handball respectively. Referee was an utter clown.
Ref was appalling in the first half and just very poor in second. Orient were perhaps the most dirty team to come to the Valley this season No booing of Waggy from H Block? Kermit kicked from pillar to post and not protected at all by the ref? However, when the ref allowed a free kick to be taken by Orient while Kermi was still on the ground..... he got up pretty sharpish? so perhaps the ref thought to himself 'I knew it' and gave Kermi nothing after that.
Satisfactory performance, nothing more than that but Orient seldom threatened so it didn't need to be brilliant. Like the look of Cook, he's a similar player to Jackson (considered and intelligent) and he linked up really well with Wiggins. His cross for the second was goal was exceptional. Gave us a bit of balance. Solly was immense as usual. Only one tiny criticism - his passing sometimes lets him down. To be fair, in the second half most of the team wasn't functioning properly though. Defensively he has a maturity beyond his years. Cort is a monster in the air. Hollands does look like he's tiring, and he and Stephens did get mixed up on the odd occasion. But even so he's still a very good centre midfielder. BWP was quiet, I wouldn't say lazy but it didn't come off for him today. He was looking for the penalty, even if it should have been given. Waggy showed his goalscoring instincts, and I thought generally played ok. He cut out the moaning, even though he would have had every right to today, I'm sure he was hacked down at least twice. Overall - apart from a brief spell at the start of the second half, no signs of nerves. Well done CP and the boys
Some player reviews. Very difficult game to judge given the influence of the referee and the fact that Orient were allowed to kick us to bits. But here goes/ Hamer - 9. Excellent game. Two very important saves. A little dodgy distribution but nothing to scare the children. Solly - 8. Solid as ever not given much support going forward by Waggy. Morro - 7. Thought he played well. A few bad passes. but he was trying again to start attacks from the back. Cort - 8. Solid. Great in the air unlucky not to get a goal. Wiggins - 7. Got some unfair stick from a loony behind me Has to deal with several hospital passes from colleagues Stephens - 5. didn't convince me. Needs to be further up the pitch Started well. Faded. Didn't fancy the rough stuff. Hollands - 6. Started well. Faded. Better than in recent weeks. Looked fresher. But still wants to play in the same space as Stephens Cook - 6. Curates egg for me. Did a few brilliant things including the cross for the second goal which was actually the result of his own initial mistake in failing to pass to Wiggins. Not match fit. Will be an asset if he keeps it up Kermorgant - 8. Kicked ****less but kept on going. Some nice set up play. Did well not to get sent off for retaliation BWP - 4. Worst game I've seen him have. Poor service but didn't look interested after the penalty decision. Waggy - 5. Did not deserve to be booed. Usual industry but headless chicken performance. N'guessan. 7. Mainly for the goal In my opinion this guy is as bad as Leon Clarke but has got a couple of early goals to find a bit of favour with the fans. It won't last - trust me on this!!!!
Some points I'd just like to add. Lee Cook is a bit similar to Andy Reid - in build and possibly quality, based on the cross for second goal If Green had played he wouldn't have gone into the position Waggy did and hence we probably wouldn't have been 1 - 0 up after 10 mins. Not sure why people don't rate N'Guessan, thought he had a decent debut. Not comment for Huddersfield. Coming on for 20 mins today scored a goal, some decent flick ons and can't think of him making any mistakes really. Overall I'm very happy with these 2 loan signings, but to sign them, I'm not sure as of yet.
If green had played he would have set up loads with the sort of crosses that Waggy is incapable of. Green would have had a field day today. My only slight doubt is whether he would have fancied the rough treatment. On n'guessan I have taken advice from friends who have seen him play regularly. He is not a long term answer. I can't see why Paul Hayes was not on the bench. Agree that Cook looks like Reid.
Because Hayes is not an impact player. N'Guessan did exactly what we wanted him to do today, was in the right place to meet and score Cook's cross. I agree with you in that he looks a bit gangly to say the least, but he did his job. Like BWP, he knows where the net is (more than Hayes does I would suggest).
I quite like n'guessen. The reference to Clarke was just plain mean . Professional display- think slade's comments summed up the display. Didn't hear waggy's name being booed from the west, but as much as I'm not a fan, would never boo a player (especially before a game). Some sections of the north p me right off.
Just seen the 'penalty' for Sheff U - absoluely incredible - it should have been given the other way - a disgusting decision.
If you look at who the referee was in that match it won't be a surprise. He is determined to get a yorkshire club close to the addicks in the run in even if he has to bend more rules to do so. That said our referee today was apalling in the first half and just plain poor in the second. We are suffering from the referees favouring the "underdogs against the club that has been top of the league all season" and it is beginning to become blatant.
I'm in shock, just in shock as I thought you were joking for a second Would be interested in hearing from the Hartlepool fans today as to how they thought the ref did
I have Jon Ackworth's book and it really is excellent. He should be congratulated for a fine effort. Good win today. Poor performance. Solly and Morro were impressive. Cook was better than I thought he would be. BWP and Hollands were woeful. April Fools came a day early with today's referee. COYR!
