Just so long as we have comfortable cushion over West Ham, I don't really mind. If Reading best us at St Marys, then fair play. They'd have taken 4 points off of us, and almost certainly have taken the title off us, and you'd have to just hold your hands up and say well played. But it's all about automatic promotion, be it 1st or 2nd.
Avoid a defeat against Blackpool (a win would be fantastic!) and this will be a very satisfactory afternoon indeed, assuming West Ham don't come back.
Would take 2nd if it was offered to me right now, lets hope for 3 points later on and a 9 point gap over West Ham!
hands up and well played I agree , but how do you work out that they will almost cdertainly have taken the title off us ?
The best result be a long way is a Reading win , these leaves the gap wider with less games to play or at the worst case scenario the status quo with less games to play .
Well I was going on the assumption that we'll slip up today, so that's Reading closing the 5 point gap to a 2 or 3 point gap. And that's a deficit which they'd turn around by beating us. And with momentum firmly behind them, I'd expect them to do slightly better than us over the other five games as well. But maybe we've spoken too soon. 2-3 now.
Was about to post the same. A draw today would provide us enough cushion to lose to them at SMS, and still win title, assuming we match their results. I for one would not be holding my hands up to them, taking my hat off to them, or performing any other laboured metaphors in their honour. South of London pride is at stake here.
