http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...an-Rodgers-if-England-nab-Harry-Redknapp.html It is The Sun so probably a load of crap... Also there are no real quotes in the piece which makes me think that the writer is a spurs fan hoping that a story like this will put us off our game the same way it has at Spurs due to harry looking at the England job.
i dont think harry is the right man to take england forward anyway. i think there are quite a few managers better than him at the end of the day, should harry get the england job and spurs do want brendan then he should go for it and i would not hold it against him, he said only a top club would tempt him away and they dont come much bigger than spurs.....
What's changed since Febuary where Brendan declared that he was more than happy here and had to finish the job ?,(what time frame can you put on our development), non story I hope
I don't think we'll go for him if 'Arry leaves. Jewell guided Wigan to 10th in their first season in the league and got them relegated the following season and Coppell got Reading up to 7th(give or take) in his first season and got them relegated the following season. Rodgers is better than them both, I'm sure, but it still makes a good point about how early days it is for him. Ultimately we'll be looking for someone with a lot more experience at this level and especially in Europe, even if we didn't qualify for the CL this year that is our goal and I'd expect us to be looking for managers who have balanced challenging for trophies domestically as well as the CL. Moyes would probably be the best option that doesn't involve an expensive manager from abroad.
I don't think Spurs would go for a largely inexperienced manager no matter how well he's doing now. They will want a big name to replace Harry should he go, maybe mourinho even though the interest at Chelsea allegedly ? Or another big name like as said above Moyes ? Brendan will be down the list a fair bit I think, the same for lambert.
I think 'Arry's probably the best man for the England job, he knows how to motivate the players. There's not so much you can do tactically at international level which will suit him as it's not his strongest point. Ultimately England just have an okay team but nothing more, at least 'Arry will get them playing attacking football. If we went to a finals and actually played some decent football rather than scrapping through the groups and getting knocked out by the first good team we play, he'll be a success. England don't have some right to expect to get to the finals each year like the media seem to think.
This story was also on Talk Sport today (might well have been re-hashing the Sun article). Personally, I think it's too soon for Buck and that might well be the feeling at the bigger clubs. I guess they'll wait to see how well he copes with the dreaded "second season syndrome" before looking harder. If we repeat this season's success then I guess Buck will be moving on and upwards. Out of interest, should that happen now, which manager do you guys favour (who stand a decent chance of being available)? Without giving any kind of thought, Gus Poyet sprang into my mind. He likes to play football the right way and might suit us.
Guess this story is just going to keep cropping up until Harry either stays or is installed as new England manager. After the Martinez defection I'm loathed to be totally relaxed that Brendan will carry on to complete the job he indicated he wanted to do but in his weekely prematch interview he sort of brushed speculation aside saying the press are just looking for something to fill their newspapers with.
Sports Tonight Live had a discussion on this subject earlier....
I just put a large amount of money on brendan being next spurs manager. This is not a non-story. I think it would be a very risky move for brendan, but i think it's a done deal. I think we should get Raymond verheijen, Gary speeds old assistant. Or Gus poyet like ivor mentioned.
Hysteria. Stop it. Whatever happens, happens. This is like the panic buying of petrol - it's like a wildfire.
Agreed. Although I hope the players are getting a clearer view of the real situation than we mere mortals.
Don't think it will happen, he is to inexperienced to do that job and I think he will wreck his career by going there so early.
Maybe it's a new tactic of ours. The English FA unsettle our manager so before each game we create some speculation about us signing the opposition manager to even things out
