http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...n-2012-Olympics-Football-clubs-play-away.html Apparently the Met want all London clubs to play away during the Para Olympics. How could that happen - seriously. Thoughts?
How much policing does the Paralympics even need? I could understand it for West Ham and Leyton Orient having to play away. Oh well, there's nothing we can do about it so no point getting annoyed, I guess.
A solitary game at WHL will attract more spectators than the entire Pratronisilympics ever will. But, naturally, nobody is daring to say this fact as it might be construed as insensitive, as opposed to being factually correct...
I wonder how far this will stretch? If it includes Barnet and Orient, it'll be a travel nightmare for people trying to get to the paralympics.
If this is the case then the whole of the PL should start after the Paralympics. Why? Because if Spurs Arsenal and Chelsea are forced to play 3 (just an example) away matches on the trot then it is likely that they may lose/draw one of those matches. Straight away the initiative at the top of the PL is handed to teams from outside London. This may seem insignificant, but any advantage is seized upon at the top of the PL. It would be unfair to London clubs.
Over here the Paraolympics is quite popular, however when we had the Olympics in 2000 there was no talk of relocation other sporting events to cater for it. A city the size of London should be more than capable of coping with this event ,as YV said it should really only affect the Spammers and Orient us to a lesser extent. I think before it all happens there will be some more discussions between the FA & the Met.
It wouldn't hurt to push the start back a couple of weeks, extra rest after the Euro's, and a two week over-run at the end of next season, would be in a dead summer with no tournament.
Have we got another pointless round of international friendlies on the Wednesday before the season starts? Hope there's not one at Wembley, would be a shame if it got canceled
We've got a double header of WC qualifiers in September. Moldova away on the 7th and Ukraine at home on the 11th.
