NH is more my game but I have my successes on the level too and I fancy a few on the opening day tomorrow; LEVIATHAN 14-1 2.05 in my opinion is quite well treated. Finished last season running over too far and has subsequently been dropped back to his winning mark. The yards horses are running to form and I think this is a little plot to open the season with a bang! SIRIUS PROSPECT 2.40 9-4 is definitely the best of these. Didnt stop improving all last season and kick this one off in style. Acts on any going and has run well on all three starts at the track. FURY 3.15 15-2 looked very special at the start of last season but didnt fulfil his full potential. Being gelded could be the making of him and I think he could make a mockery of this mark. He comes with a warning as he didnt beat even one home in his last two starts but that has helped to get him an attractive looking mark. JUST PAST ANDOVER 3.50 I guess its the bumper fan in me that makes me love the Brocklesby. Bill Turner loves the race even more than I do and for that reason alone his horse should be backed. ONE FOR JOULES 6.05 8-1 I couldnt be more sure that this horse has been "aimed" at this race. His warm up was over an inadequate trip and I am sure that it was to have him spot on for this. I will be amazed if he doesnt get gambled in to a much shorter price. Eye catching jockey booking and for me shockingly let in by the handicapper. She is a big bet for me. Slightly more in keeping with my usual is the Uttoxeter bumper and a very big run is expected from MOVE ALONG 5.15 exp 3-1. The Honeyball team have performed incredibly well all season with their bumpers especially to the fore. There is a lot of yard confidence behind this fella despite his dubious form figures!
Evening stick Just watching the MIGHTY SAINTS really bounce back to form 3 for me tomorrow Waffle 2.40 Doncaster Eshtibaak 3.40 Kempton Fury 3.15 Doncaster
I like Mia's Boy in the Lincoln who I think is about 20/1. Be rude not to have a play in the Brocklesby really and my 'pin' has chosen My Boy Bill in that. Haven't looked at any of the other races on the card and won't until tomorrow morning so, as someone once said, 'I'll be back'.
Started an online poker tourney @ 4pm, finished an hour or so back, 1st place $523.52 Will invest a bit into tomorrows action on the flat, primarily meydan where you would hope there all ready to do themselves justice Any 1 with fancies please pass em on... i like Western Aristicrat & Opinion Poll so far
Selections tomorrow at Doncaster all EW less THE CHEKA 2.05 LEVITHIAN 12/1 2.40 JIMMY STYLES 16/1, HIGH STANDING 14/1 and THE CHEKA 7/1 3.15 MIAS BOY 14/1 & DUBAI DYNAMO 33/1 5.30 AMAZING BLUE SKY 16/1 Boom Boom, shame High Standing didnt make the frame, but musnt grumble 12/1 BOG and a free bet too boot
15.25 Meydan- Wrote 7/2 Is a tough choice between the two AOB pair- I was very impressed with Daddy Long Legs last year winning a good Group 2 at newbury will definately stay the distance. But have gone for the favourite when he mowed down his rivals to land the Juvenile Turf at last season's Breeders' Cup meeting. I feel he may be picking up some very big prizes as a 3 yo.
I think this meeting really is one to watch the markets for moves. It is pretty impossible to use much else in as much as the form book will be of little use as we have no idea who is actually fit to win or just fit to run, when you see a big move however it's worth following as it is a great time to land a touch because if you get your horse fit to win early on you can sometimes only be running against half the field due to fitness levels differing. This obviously does not apply to the Lincoln as most will be ready to run to form due to the big prize. I have one to put up early and one to watch for early morning 2.05 Shamdarley 4.55 the funcrusher This is Jim McGraths horse, completely unexposed after not being seen after an early season success last year but the trainer likes to win this race and this looks like a plot. If it moves i would get on quick. Eton Forever in the Lincoln for me by the way.
17.25 Meydan Await The Dawn 9/1 Won the first 5/6 races in his career, the best win in the Hardwick Stakes at Ascot last summer. Something wasnt right in his final 2 starts of last year and this horse is a class act and is way to early to write off at this price has huge place claims at the very worst!
18.00 Meydan St Nicholas Abbey 3/1 Or Beaten Up 7/2 A race won by the late great REWILDING! RIP Yet another Obrien runner- Probably one of the best horses in the Coolmore yard and although he won the Coronation Cup and Breeders' Cup Turf last season but didn't need to produce exceptional performances to win either of those he will need a little more here, and although his Irish Derby winner stable compatriot is better value I fancy him to produce another good performance. Saying this one horse to keep an eye on is William Haggis's Beaten Up could be the newest star in his stables and he thinks very highly of this horse and for him to be in the picture come the finish post will not be a suprise
Cheers wooly! And thanks for the picks from meydan, iv put them Wrote and ATD with western aristcrat and opiion poll in singles, doubled, trebles and a cheeky £1 four fold haha withdraw the rest of the winnings now
Ive dont those four too, with SYT in the big race- Although he is a bit short! I feel he may be very hard to beat! Best of luck
Goodluck to you too mate time to go to bed, i have square eyes after hours in front of this screen take care
I've backed North Stack to win the last at Uttoxeter. Ran a blinder against a horse I backed the last day and responded to pressure superbly when beating Qoubilai. That horse won really easily on Friday when attracting heavy support despite having been raised a few lbs following his battle with North Stack. The form is strong, this race looks eminently winnable and he's attracted support. 11/4 now 2/1. I'll also be on the Honeyball bumper horse.
2.40 Doncaster. The Cheka. I backed Sirius Prospect in his last three wins and he could be just that! His final flourish was devastating last year. However, The Cheka is better than most of these, albeit it's his first try at 6 furlongs. This shouldn't bother him too much since he has shown good tactical speed at 7 furlongs. Also he runs particularly well when fresh. Best price..8/1 (various) 3.15 Doncaster. Stevie Thunder. He showed good form last year- winning twice and then running a great race when second in The Cambridgeshire. At 20/1 (various) he offers good place prospects- with his lad claiming 3 lbs. 3.25 Meydan. Yang Tse Kiang. After running a great race in a Group 3 at Longchamp last backend, he had his pipe opener by winning a weaker race on the polytrack at Chantilly. His fitness will help him here and he could run a big race at best price 25/1 Betfair. Recommended Bet.... EW Patent (14 Bets) Good punting everyone!
Morning everyone. Very blustery here today, hope it's better in the UK otherwise it might knacker the racing. Gone for my usual Saturday Lucky 31 on my competition picks: 2.40 Doncaster Bannock - gets a very nice weight-for-age allowance from his chief rivals although he is pretty close with them on official ratings. Bannock had very decent 2YO form behind the likes of Frederick Engels and Harbour Watch and made a very nice reappearance behind Gusto, having to travel very wide the whole race from his high draw. He was readily held by Gusto that day but I think Gusto is a decent animal (potentially a group horse this season) and Bannock was far from disgraced. I would expect him to come on for that run and at the weights he looks a decent proposition today. 3.15 Doncaster Mia's Boy - very genuine horse who always saves his best for Town Moor, he finished 6th in the race 2 years ago off a mark of 106. Today he runs off 101 and has Raul Da Silva taking off another 5, and he showed his well-being with a cracking effort last time out when coming with a fantastic late surge up the Wolverhampton straight and just failing to peg back Nazreef and Kingscroft. Nice centre stall draw and should really appreciate the stiffly run mile today. 5.15 Uttoxeter Golden Electra - pure speculation based on the Chuckles Wiltshire Whisper from yesterday. 5.20 Navan Realt Dubh - clearly a spring horse, he was outclassed in the Champion Chase but should have come on for that run and this is more his level today. Looks very much the class horse of the race and can land this Grade 2 prize for Noel Meade and Paul Carberry. 5.35 Stratford Whisky Yankee - Ruby pops across from Uttoxeter to ride this one in the last and I expect him to step up considerably on his debut run, where he was a big green baby. Darryl Jacobs was into him already a full mile from home that day and, although he did respond to the urgings, the winner (who looks a potentially very decent sort, having followed up in fine style when beating a subsequent winner at Doncaster) had already flown. The horse should be much straighter today and his rivals don't exactly look like world beaters. Ruby can make this pay for the petrol money. Best of luck to everyone
Morning all, Someone was asking about how one might try to wittle the runners down in the Brocklesby. I have tried to show how I do it on the blog. http://nassauboard.blogspot.com/ My selections today - Fury in the Lincoln My Boy Bill in the Brocklesby Woodland Mill in the 2yo fillies maiden
