It would seem from a few articles today with various tables displayed, that as much as SAF n co. try to give this one a bodyswerve saying these things even out over a season...they don't, they are heavily in Uniteds favour.

    http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/29032012/58/premier-league-vieira-right-united-penalties.html

There is another table in the Mirror today that has Spurs rooted at the bottom of it, but it its not online anywhere. Basically Spurs are the only team to not be given or to concede a penalty at home all season so far...hard to know what to make of that. Are we too fair?, not in the box enough?, who knows!

Popular myth has it that Bale is a diver, and that's where most of our penaltys would come from. Lennon might get some. Ade never gets anything.

Conclusion: Modric needs to get in the box more often.

I think it's just coincidence for us Smart, I can't immediately think of a penalty we should've got at home. In cups we've had 3 penalties at home, off the top of my head, one against PAOK and one apiece against Stevenage.

Ade got one against Newcastle away, didn't he? Probably his only one for us but since he actually scores penalties I think he can be forgiven.

The focus on penalties misses the point really, it's the marginal decisions they get more of that make the difference.

Cue Luke to post a comment saying Utd should get more penalties as they spend so more time in the opposition box than other teams.

I had a feeling it was league games YV, but nevertheless it backs the 'better not upset Ferguson and find myself reffing Championship games next week' theory.

Luke, re your "obvious point", this season Spurs as you are well aware, have dominated possession in the opponents half in most games especially at home, but no pens...explain that then? :)

Saying that Utd win a lot at home doesn't add any weight to your theory, Lidls.
When they get loads of favourable decisions, they're going to win, aren't they?

I wouldn't talk about shirt pulling and dodgy tackles when you've got Vidic and Scholes in your squad, either.

How anyone can argue that refs aren't biased towards Man Utd after last season when Clattenburg told Tottenham players to go away while he consulted with his assistant but allowed Rio Ferdinand to stand there is beyond me

Come on Luke, that was about 18 months ago. Also no one's saying refs don't get decisions wrong in games that don't include United.

Luke, you've had 32 penalties in the league since 07/08, to our 24, a third more, according to the link, if the best you can do is cite one CL pen for us, I rest my case.

i think it shows that we would be right up there if we played in red and were called Manchester United....a bit like that team that plays in red..i think they called Manchester United...however we dont get many pens<ok>

I know, I just said that he did get one against Newcastle. It's good that he can score the penalties though, better than when we used to get them and promptly miss.

Yeah, Steven Taylor just ran in to the back of him so he didn't do an awful lot to win it but he has won a penalty was the main thing I was trying to say.

Vieira is right, Ferguson has the majority of Referees in his pocket and has had for years.

The problem for all other clubs is that Referees are scared of Ferguson and dare not make a wrong decision against Utd..... so invariably they are given the benefit of doubt 90% of the time.

I would estimate its worth around an extra 12-15 points a season to Utd.
