Andy Carroll has said he will not celebrate if he scores on Sunday.
I'm surprised he can remember how to celebrate, unless he isn't talking about football.
Usual tripe, i still love the Toon. So why leave money grabber.

No he had just signed a new contract, and then got greedy for more money, and the offer of £35 million was a no brainer.

I'm not sure if he'll feel the same way if he scores after being heavily boo'd for every minute of the match up to that point.

I have no problem with Carroll I have to admit. I had no problem with him being sold in general either because of the fee involved. I did have an issue with the gamble the board took by not replacing him. They got away with it but it was fine margins last year and a couple of different results could have left us vulnerable. Every has their own opinion but for me was sold rather than agitated for a move. The club wanted what was an astronomical figure given what he had achieved. That his agent tried to use it to get him more money is neither here nor there to be honest.

Its good that he wants to respect the club who gave him his big chance and that he supported as a boy. I do wonder if our supporters will evebntually get to the stage where they accept that players move as part of football. Whether homegrown or otherwise. Sometimes the club will instigate it, sometimes the players, sometimes it suits both parties. Why it is such a big issue with us is hard to fathom.

I have got used to players wanting to move on, for whatever reason. going back to before Waddle, Beardsley, Gascoigne era. But with Andy Carroll he was very much in the learning stage and didn't seem to be bothered with the effort people at the club had put in to get him where he was.

Thats just modern football. Everything is now now now. They are superstars after 3 games, gone are the days where you have to prove yourself over a sustained period. The club wanted shot once the 35m came though. To be fair to Ashley, it was an extravagent amount of money. As a young lad he probably some poor advice from his agent too (who will have been keen as mustard for the move to happen!). Then you throw in his part, trebling his wage, millions just for going, the big superstar move to one of the biggest clubs in the country, its roy of the rovers stuff!

Until any of us have been in the situation where a club tells you they want to sell you (a slap in the face in itself), we are being offered to treble our wages by the new employer as well as picking up a 7 figure sum on arrival, and generally been put in a last minute tailspin of glaour and decision making, I don't really think we're very well qualified to assess the situation. I reckon if I had been in his shoes at his age, I'd have probably moved.

Nobody is at fault and supporters should not feel any anger towards either party now. The club took a gamble which paid off and Carroll did what 99% would have done in that scenario. I'm sure Carroll did appreciate what had been done for him and the fact he won't celebrate suggests as much. I just think our fans are holding players up to unobtainable standards in the modern game when it comes to transfer movement.

PS I have been told he received 3.1m for signing with them and 75k a week rising to 90k. That is what a lad who claims to still have contact with him told me. How true it is I'm not sure.

Quotes I've seen from Pardew is the offer of £35 mill was made, he sat AC down and asked him what he wanted to do.
He said the offer was to good to turn down at which point DL got involved.

It's the bollox about being forced out and not wanting to leave that doesn't sit well with me.

Yes MA is in it for the money, but has stumped up £140 mill so isn't doing so well is he. Fact is AC could have gone onto do some much with NUFC his boyhood club (so he keeps telling us) but as soon as a supposed 'Big Club' came calling he jumped ship.

I know players move on but he was still young and learning the trade and all the move has done for him is made him more money but also ballsed his career up. He got capped for England, but has never been called back since going to LFC.

    Sometimes money ISN'T everything.

Thing is Rafa when ever a team is on a bad run of form or can't score as soon as they come to SJP they often break the cycle.

We had a convincing win last week but will probably end up looking like a kids Sunday league team at the weekend lol

We are on really bad form now, you would think we will have to break this duck sooner or later, how much worse can it get? Then again, I thought this before Wigan at home. <yikes>

Just as much chance of Henderson scoring, i.e. 7,608,264,762,784,611,063,087,268,732,783,827,638 to 1 against.

    Or thereabouts.

I'm getting pissed off with people actually giving two ****s about Carroll anymore.

And I'm gonna be so pissed off when thousands of people boo him on sunday.

He's just another football player that was offered a better contract at a team that was at the time much better than us. He took the offer and we got 35 million which has helped us turn our team around and helped us climb the table.

Just ****ing forget about Carroll for ****s sake.

I think we should just do whatever will put him, Enrique and their team off the most. If it's bile and hate-filled booing then so be it.

Nothing particularly personal as far as I'm concerned though. I mean jesus 35 million is a LOT of money.

In all my time watching football I've never known booing work. It does one thing and one thing only, motivates them to answer with their feet.

I hope we are going to show Enrique the respect he deserves for the service he gave us. I dare say we won't because that is the modern way.

I don't know, I think it could work with Carroll, although we won't find out until it happens. He still clearly loves the club and from a footballing point of view knows he's made a massive mistake leaving us - if we bombard him with hatred and disrespect then I think it might really hurt him and not in a firing-up kind of way, he doesn't seem mentally strong like that for me. But yeah I think you're pretty much bang on re booing, it doesn't often work in the desired way.

As for Enrique, he'll get booed, not as bad as Carroll but he'll get booed right or wrong - probably for sticking the boot in after he left but he only dissed the brass, didn't have a bad word to say about the fans, most of whom would admit to agreeing with what he had to say after he went out the door (although it does make one LOL that he said we would never challenge the top 6 under this regime).
