"The fan caught waving the Turkish flag against Leeds was given a 10 year ban (this can be appealed if he gets in touch). Normally a ban would be indefinite and once the facts had been ascertained a length of ban would be added, in this case due to the amount of warnings put out about bringing in flags to the ground and how high profile the game was, a 10 year ban was given instantly. The person concerned was neither a Member nor Season Ticket holder; if he wants to he can appeal using the normal appeal route that would have been explained to him.
People are saying a 10 year ban for waving a flag is very extreme, I totally agree that 10 years for just waving a flag is extreme, but this wasn’t just waving a flag there were a lot of other circumstances that made it more than that.
After the last Leeds game when there were Turkish flags waved the club were contacted by many people fans, politicians and the football authorities, the mother of one of the Leeds fans murdered in Istanbul actually phoned the club in disgust at the action of some fans, for me this makes it more than waving a flag. For one moment put yourself in the shoes of the family of the dead fan. Imagine how we would react if the chants were about our own Lee (Ian) Pratt or imagine how his family would feel?
To protect itself from any potential charges of incitement the club could have cited all the precautions it took to the Football League as a defence, as it happened there were only 4 ejections, the precautions the club took in my opinion had no impact on the atmosphere at all. The national press picked up the incident and reported on it once again damaging the clubs reputation, we all know things like this happen elsewhere week in week out, it’s a shame the press and authorities don’t treat other teams how they treat us.
If the fan banned wasn’t “guilty” of anything, if he was banned as it was a case of mistaken identity or anything else contentious if he gets in touch as with all banning I will help him appeal.

Now I was under the impression that the role of the FOTB was to represent the fans - every time he communicates now, it is as if he is issuing pre-planned directives from the club! 10 Years for waving a flag FFS - I only got a 3 year ban for assaulting a plod in 1998.
Seems the club we love is determined to mold us into the happy clappy types we see down the road at Selhurst and The Valley - well they can shove that right up their jacksy.

"We fear no foe wh'ever we go" - Remember that <ok>

Good post TC. I've often read the fan on the boards reports and thought what a **** he actually is. I thought the whole idea of him being there was to put the fans thoughts accross, not wipe the arse of the board and alienate the fans. Football is about tribal rivalry basically. I spent 3 hours travelling to the Leeds game, with 5 Leeds fans, Then we shared a few beers at Lb, then we shook hands and went to our respective ends of the ground. Then we spent 2 hours abusing **** out of each other and our respective heritage. Then we went back to the pub and repeated the train journey home discussing the match and still giving each other ****. They give me **** regularly and vice versa. They don't like Turkey but appreciate Munich so it's all a bit give and take and they can understand why they get it as they give it. If you can't take it don't give it, if all else fails take up chess with that **** Garston and stay the **** away from football.
Not often I swear on here but cheese taught me these new words on Saturday <whistle>

What pisses me off LFB, is that he is supposed to be OUR voice - all we get from him now is directives issued from the club - Just sent him an email to tell him what I think <ok>

Yes, I'm clearly a knobhead for condemning some thug who thinks it's funny to make fun of two dead fans. I would never defend our fans who sing about Munich, it's disgusting.

I find the whole thing disgusting and an unnecessary stain on football. I don't stand with the argument that stamping this sort of thing out damages the atmosphere either, there are plenty of other things to sing about.
