The Peacocks welcome the Hornets looking to give Neil Warnock his first home win since replacing Simon Grayson. Strangly nursing the pain of a 3-7 defeat by Nottingham Forest, something the Nottinghamshire club did to Watford in a cup match several years ago.

“I want to win at home, I'm not looking beyond that. The tabloids are saying I've won two out of seven games since I came here, I'd say we've lost two of out seven. We've been very, very close, and we could have been another seven points better off than we are now, but all I'm thinking about is maximum points at home and the Watford game is the only one I'm bothered about.”

" Leeds fans are so desperate to do well and that's what that makes this challenge so exciting. We shall be giving it our all, that's all I can say.”

“We've got to win a home game. Watford's as good as any. They're flying and I'm not disappointed by that. I'd rather that than play a team having the worst run ever."

    • The Peacocks

ellandback our new correspondent says Darren O'Dea is suspended, thanks for that. Danny Pugh may make his return to the team. Leigh Bromby and Andy O'Brien are likely to play.

“Change brings opportunity - that's the way we view it. It was just the same at the start of this season, and then again when Marvin Sordell left on January deadline day.”
“Since then we've scored goals and the players have stood up and just got on with their jobs. Players do sense those opportunities and it's up to them to be the player that makes the most of a changing situation.”

“Sean Murray's another who has come in and is going along nicely. Obviously he's got a lot of development left in him, but we're aware of not over-complicating things for him right now.”

    • The Hornets

Stephen McGinn continues to recover and now the club are saying no date is proposed, which is better than a year. Ross Jenkins is still injured with a groin strain but is close to returning to the team and Adrian Mariappa is still missing. Carl Dickinson must behave as another caution on Saturday will give him a suspension. And there are no suspensions. One player is missing, Alexander Kacaniklic has been recalled by Fulham and he returns to Cottaging with Marcello Trotta.

The new goalscoring machine Sean Murray and Troy Deeney

    Who will win?

    Current form

Watford go into this match as the forn team of the two. With six games unbeaten they have four wins and two draws. Leeds have two wins and two draws in their last six. The wins were unhappily for the faithful away from Elland Road.

Akureyri's Prediction: 1-0 Watford have learned to score more goals than they lose recently but Leeds Uniteds need for a win will provide a difficult test. The hosts will also have a lot of pressure to give Neil Warnock his first win at Elland Road. The visitors will struggle and will emerge with no points.

    The last time
After Leeds picked Watford’s pocket last year they did it again in the match earlier this season. Robert Snodgrass’ penalty kick after 95 minutes undid Michael Kightly’s first half strike. In a game where everything was almost divided equally the visitors just about got the better of the statistics, but a penalty after so long was difficult to take.

O'Dea won't be playing, he is banned. Maybe a rare start for Andy O'Brien or Alex Bruce, personally, I'd have Paul Robinson playing centre back, and I'd bring in Danny Pugh at right back.

2-1 win for Leeds. Leeds to score the winner on 93 minutes from the penalty spot <ok>

Good thread as usual ak. ***** from me.<ok>

I do love it when people not only know the final score but can tell you with certainty who will score and at what time in the game.

My guess is that we will see a brace from Lloyd, a couple from Nos, and one apiece from JE, SM and TD.

I am afraid that I cannot say who will score their three. ;)

Fab thread as ever Ak, thank you :)...hopefully there'll be some banter on this thread...lighthearted would be good too! ;)

Definitely a Hornets win on this one...with or without Kaciniklic we have momentum behind us...though Leeds tend to get lucky against us, which they have to coz they can't get points off us any other way ;) Hopefully their luck will run out in this game and we'll bring all three points home :) 1-3 to the Golden Boys :)

And now that i have petrol, i'm looking forward to the journey! :)

Do the team wake Troy Deeney for the matches? He always looks like he is close to sleep.

I think we have enough fight in us to get a result. Ok so losing Kacaniklic is a big loss, I'm sure he would cause Leeds dodgy defence a lot of problems.

We still have a good team though...just hope we don't concede a penalty, need Nosworthy to be in "no mistakes" mode.

Last season at Elland Road, they needed an own goal to get a draw. At the Vic this year they needed us to miss a penalty and get a late late penalty. We're in good form..I think we'll score 2 or more, whether it'll be enough for win or not I dunno.

Its cos the guy never sleeps! He is on twitter all the time commenting about his work outs and how he has been playing with Myles. Then he works his backside off on the pitch.

I have said this will be 0-1 but i can also see it being a score draw. Either way it will be a good match. I will just catch it and then have to dash off to l*t0n for dinner with my Aunty. I will send my usual text to 3CR with my insight but will not be about much after.

It's worth noting that Leeds' home form is abysmal against teams that still have realistic promotion hopes, and extremely good against the teams they've played that don't.

    http://www.statto.com/football/teams/leeds-united

I'm not writing Leeds off and actually make them favourites for this match despite recent form. But it's a mark of how both clubs' seasons have gone is that if Watford win, the two clubs will be separated only on goal difference (unless we take a better result from Elland Road than Blackpool).

Won four and drawn two of our last six games against Watford at Elland Road. I don't forsee any problems; they've got a bit lucky last few games, so what?

Hard to deny that we're terrible at Elland Road, but it's a bit of an irrelevant stat.

One of those wins came in a season where you qualified for the Champions League. How did that pan out by the way?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/3676195.stm

On another one of those wins, Nigel Gibbs was 24. In the season of a third of those four wins, we got promoted at your expense. The final win came in the Carling Cup... and let's face it, who cares about that? <whistle>
