Why are we all being dinosaurs?

I love Rafa as a man; I thank him for his efforts for LFC during a very very difficult time for our club. I believe in what Kenny is trying to do with the club. However, the days of the personality manager - both of the above, Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho, 'Arry, etc. is drawing to a close. The future belongs to younger, less high profile but ambitious managers of the Coyle/Moyes type.

We now consider our 'team' as a squad of players. OK you have stand-out players but all of the squad have to play their part. The person who organises that squad and develops the strategy is a leader of of a team of trainers. He manages the squad. He does not and, in future, will not Manage the club. I can truly see us returning to a situation whereby we only acknowledge the manager at the end of the season and don't look to him as being bigger than the team itself.

Yer all blind, Kenny will be stepping dwn at the end of the seasn:) He will talk with Henry, they'll bth agree he's stabalised things after a lot of change, Kenny can move up into the club again my only blind spot is who will take over, Rafa must look tempting to fsg even if he's already familiar to us, he's all new and shiny to them:)

Who knows, magic 8ball says Mancini sacked and taking over at chelsea, jose CIty and Arry with no CL footy next seasn will take the eng job. Moyes to replace Arry and who knows to replace Moyes

I think Kenny would win everything if we had the players to play his pass move game, but on the whole we do not have those players

Calling Moyes an ambitious manager is pretty laughable he's spent 10 years battling for the upper half of midtable throughout his career and never even attempted to take a step up to a club at the next level, even though he's likely had VERY lucrative offers from bigger English clubs and ones from abroad.

Rams at spurs, AVB at chelsea Rafa at inter, why should he get into that sackathon kind of moving about, family's probably well settled too, there is a guy with a family and a life outside of football. Masc went because of family ultimately

Don't forget he qualified for CL in 2005. Really successful that. <laugh>

  6. Maybe he never felt the offers he received were right? Loyalty is just a high a characteristic as ambition. Just because your not challenging for a title does not mean your not ambitious. IMO, if Everton had had some financial backing they would be amongst the top six/seven.

PS - someone said about not wanting to uproot his family. What about changing colours...?

That's the risk, and you take risks because you are an ambitious person. People who don't take risks never get to the top. Mourinho from Porto to Chelsea was a risk as he could've easily lived off his reputation for ages at Porto after winning a European cup but he made the jump. Same as him making the jump from Inter Milan to Real Madrid when he was idolised at Inter.

I would've liked to have seen Rafa in Kenny's old job at the Academy. He's the reason it's producing again and getting credit from around the world, including Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola has issued a glowing review of the Liverpool youth system after holding an interview with Catalan Radio. The Barcelona coach has arguably the world’s best academy at his disposal, with many regarding Arsenal’s young guns as contenders.

However, Guardiola believes that it is Liverpool who have the only academy that can challenge his own – a sentiment that he was keen to share during a recent interview:

“The academy of the Liverpool is the only one that can compare to La Masia of Barcelona FC.” he said.

The double winning coach then went on to state: “If Liverpool can manage those lads in the academy, then maybe 20 star players can arrive from that academy”.

Rafa Benitez’ marmite approach to football is one that still has the Anfield faithful split between those who laud his time at the club, and those who rejoiced at his exit. But the legacy that he left behind is testament to his managerial ability and vision for the club’s future.

Thanks to his hard work, and that of Jose Segura and Rodolfo Borrell – both of whom were poached from the Barca ranks – as well as Frank McParland and Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool finally have an academy set-up which is envied the world over.
