Big loss to the bloodstock world and to Coolmore.

Lets hope his stock can carry on the legacy.

    Racing Post also have it:

World-class stallion Montjeu dies aged 16

By Racing Post staff 11:49AM 29 MAR 2012

THE bloodstock world has been dealt a devasting blow with the news that Montjeu, Coolmore Stud's second most important stallion after Galileo, has died at the age of 16.

The son of Sadler's Wells leaves an outstanding legacy having sired three Derby winnings in Motivator, Authorized, and, last year, Pour Moi.

Another of his sons, Camelot, would be a strong contender for this season's Epsom Classic based on his authoritative victory in last season's Racing Post Trophy.

Having overcome question marks about his ability to produce high-class fillies, Montjeu's daughter Wading is favourite for this year's Oaks.

    Coolmore have confirmed the story:

    Montjeu
    (29th March 2012)

Montjeu, the highest-rated racehorse ever by the great Sadler’s Wells has died this morning at Coolmore Stud after a short illness which was due to complications from an overwhelming septicaemia.

The sire of three Epsom Derby winners including last year’s brilliant winner Pour Moi, as well as Camelot, the favourite for this year’s edition, Montjeu was one of the best stallions in the world and in 2011 he sired 15 individual Group/Graded winners in the northern hemisphere, which was the equal of Galileo.

Montjeu will best be remembered for his incredible wins in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes as well as his runaway victories in the French and Irish Derbies.

Most notable is that he was the only one to get anywhere near the leader El Condor Pasa, and he got past him with a degree of comfort too.

Guys just passing on some AP information I have recieved today, in the National:

    CALGARY BAY 20/1
    SHAKALAKABOOM 20/1

and one in the 2000G, CAMELOT, VOB has stated this is one of the best young horses he has ever trained, however, I was also advised there is a doubt he may yet run, so be careful if you play.

Good luck today if you play on another poor day of racing

Your welcome lad, i dont have a clue whats fancied for the National or indeed the Gunieas, unlike some i dont live and breath horse racing.

The lad who passed it on is a contractor and doesnt even bet but was chatting to a well know source in racing...........to coin his words someone called O Brien...... and a racing colomunist from the Daily Record.

Wasnt sure if anyone had heard anything so best to pass it on rather than hog it, after all any information is useful. Use it as you see fit you horse racing NERD

Calgary Bay is a horse I really like and really think is a National type. So much so I was on him last year when he unseated early on. I really think he could have gone close off of last season's mark but I think his chances have gone following back-to-back chase wins. I'm not going to say Hen has not thought this through because he picked up two nice pots and I also don't think his current mark is beyond him either but I think there's likely to be a host of horses that are considerably more well in than he is because they have been aimed at the race all season and had their mark more effectively managed. I hope they have a more experienced jockey this time round too.

With regards to Camelot, am I right in saying that Montjeu has never sired a group 1 winning miler (other than in 2-y-o races) ? If so I think that would be enough to put me off at the price even if it were NRNB.
