I must be a phony as well then! Back on topic. I have not heard much about any stabbings nor Evertons reputation for hooliganism. I can vouch for the fact that Sunderland does not have much of a nutter following that go looking for fights. There is an incredibly small group (whom you really would not mess with btw) but in every book associated with hooliganism I only ever see one guy every time
Every team has their problem elements. These days these are minorities. The police underestimated the potential for trouble but from what I'm aware it was all pretty minor stuff. For me I will never get the need to fight someone because they support someone else or to prove your club has the hardest supporters??? I just want to watch football, enjoy the atmosphere and go home. At no point ever should anybody ever fear for their safety at a football match. The end
