as the dust finally settles on Tuesdays disappointments, the final picking over the bad bits fades away its time to look forward not back, the future not the past and an attractive pressure free game at City. Now many will have us down for a hammering, down hearted, confidence shot with a cup defeat hang over, well I think they will be wrong. In the past few months I feel we have got to know a little about Marty, I think we can safely assume he will be hurting after Tuesday and so will his staff and no doubt the players. Does anyone really believe there will have been anything other than a lets get some pride back attitude on the training ground? If a repeat of Tuesdays display happens on Saturday then I think we have all misjudged MON badly. We are underdogs, we are expected to lose, we are expected to be under pressure and I think that will suit us down to the ground. Do I expect us to win, not at all so that takes the pressure of me, all I ask is a decent performance, I don't expect big changes to the team but it would be nice to see some, to get a glimpse of what next season may have in store. Back to a Saturday with Nick Barnes and Garry Bennett for me and TBH, I'm looking forward to it. Remember my friends, at 7.45 Tuesday evening the future looked bright and in this little outback of the civilised world, it still does, and the sun is shinning.
Aye, back to feet on ground time, but still enough fizz left in the season to strive for a higher league position. MON not now under pressure for essential results so can maybe bring in a youngster or two for an extended period of game time.
With the pressure off, you can also look forward to watching some good football as battles for promotion, relegation and indeed the Prem title hot up as be reach the business end.
As Albert says, we are in the rare position of being safe from the relegation issues at this stage of the season and can perhaps relax and play our football...All of the pressure is on City, and although their 100% home record tells me they are handling it pretty well, we can surely regain some pride by making sure they know they have been in a game..
It's one of those games, they cant really afford to lose and the pressure is on big time. We are not expected to win so apart from pride its pressure free. It may just be one of those days.
City haven't being playing well at all of late and have been scraping wins. If we concede early we'll get tonked but if we can get to half time level they really do struggle to break teams down atm. Has anyone noticed the city fans actually crying at games recently? That's when you know the club has lost its identity. They were in league 1 not so long ago.
I think MON has been quoted saying he would to give the fringe players some time - this includes Elmo, Meyler, Ji and Wickham. Not sure about Elmo, but if MON wants to give him a try then who am I to argue?
