My mate (a teacher) got lifted for a fracas outside a pub. When he went to court they were charging him with all sorts, one of which was sectarian abuse. He couldn't have that on his record or he'd be pumped so he had a plea bargain and that offense was dropped. He was found guilty of the rest of charges and punished. I don't see what the fuss is about this story! A guy is out of order, a plea bargains struck and punishment is served
why did the defence feel the need to ask the off duty man if he was a rangers fan or not? what's that got to do with 2 idiots signing about terrorists?
Surely singing about killing people isnt good especially when its religion and it offends people. Im not saying oor crowd is any better... so you can settle down
Nice to see the Queen recognising the republics independance - why shouldnt she? I mean she has done nice stuff like that at her other older colonies...... I dont see how you can point the big bony finger of blame here - my motivation certainly isnt a game of my cocks bigger than your cock (although it certainly is!). I believe any song that has incindiery words about killing, maiming or glorifying murders is wrong - are you trying to defend that? As for armed forces - I just dont see the connection to this thread. Lets not get into the IRA vs HM armed forces - so many different things at play there. We certainly do have a mixed history here so let me give you some other anecdotes from one of my Catholic Celtic supporting pals gave me. Great Britain during the potato famine had an influx of Irish Catholics. Imagine the situation - a hoard of Catholic "immigrants" (I use that word loosely) arriving at the banks of the Clyde looking for work and homes and greeted by a staunchly protestant people. Whilst those immigrants experienced a lot of hard ship and prejudice in Scotland there was no ethnic cleansing, no mass killings and no civil war. Sure the immigrants were greeted with suspicion, religious contempt etc etc. Compare this to other countries when 2 religions are forced to coexist - this aint no Yugoslavia, this aint no Palestein, this aint no former Soviet block.... And what we have now is now a modern more progressive society - not this anti-catholic rubbish Cardinal O'Brien vomits out each year. Some gratitude is required here.... Again, why do you refer to dominant groups etc. Are you looking for a political discussion here rather than is it right to sing a song? Really tired of this Irish/Catholic persecution and inferiority complex....because its certainly not true.
Agreed - a lot of fuss. But it was the "ill will" comment that got me..... So if I called you a fat ****ing fenian **** in a kindly jovial and comical manner...it would be ok..
I know! How ****ed up is this? Next thing they will ask judges if they are masons are not.....oh wait a minute they already do. Maybe we should push them same for the Knights of Saint Columba. I can see it the now "Now, I know you were doing your job BUT, are you a Rangers/Celtic fan, a Mason, a Knight of Saint Columba, a **** or an arsehole!"
What is ridiculous about it? Either stand by your statement, or don't. What about flower of Scotland?
Don't entertain this bawsack. He calls Rangers fans "Monkeys" on 606. Sat there in his Cork bedsit, crying over the Irish Tiger going arse over tit. Wishing Boaby Sands was still alive so he could post him food parcels. He's a waste of my tax money.
