Firstly Hi all. Im a long time reader of these boards but a first timer poster. I know many still believe we could sneak the playoffs however i think this wont happen. Despite the disapointment of this season i can't wait for the next. Nigel with a pre season and a couple signings will have us firing on all cylinders next season im sure. We haev a good squad but its teams that get promoted and i think if we have a quiet summer we will do well next season we need some consistency both on and off the pitch. Same management team and playing staff (with only essential signings joining) and no major board changes either. I think we will finish in the top 2 next season although how many of us said that last summer tbf. Where does everyone else think we will finish should we not get into playoffs Lcfc#fan
Welcome mate Yeah if Nigel gets back over the summer then we should have a very good season next year. He doesnt need or probaly want to be backed to the same extent as Sven. Nigel will sort out some issues over the summer and get in players who can add to what we have and that want to play for the club.
The financial regulations are changing next season, so I'd be surprised if you have the same squad. And thats without Beckford (& others) demanding a transfer to the newly promoted Leeds! (ok, thats a tad far fetched)
Its very easy to cheat the system and we can easily. Man City have cheated the system. Matt Mills looks like he is leaving but i would be very surprised if Beckford left now
What kind of impact will Wolves, Wigan and QPR make on the division? That could have a big impact on our chances as this season, the two teams who have been top 2 most of the season were new to the division. What will happen to West Ham if they are pipped by Reading? I can't see any relegated team dominating the division and if West Ham are still here, they will be playing the price for gambling heavily on going up this year. Unless a surprise package from League One arises again, I think it will be anyone's next year. And there is no reason why this anyone shouldn't be Leicester.
Wigan wont pull up any trees Mark Hughes will walk from QPR along with all their big name players so they will be unpredictable and Wolves are always going to be a threat at this level
Its so hard to predict what any team will do if they get relegated but i think Wolves will do well should they go down. I actually think Blackburn are going to get relegated rather then QPR and they will do well if they come down also. Cant see Wigan doing quite so well but for all three teams it depends on how much of their squads and management teams they keep together. How does the the new system work. I thought that as we have spent big this season then we largely get away with it without having to undergo any major changes.
i dont think we either want or need Yakubu to be honest, we have plenty of strikers. Like most others im looking forward to next season, tho id still love to be proved wrong about us making the play offs this yr, but common sense just says it wont happen, as we need a really consistant run to achieve it, and that is something we have not managed all season. It will be interesting to see who stays and who goes that is for sure, and rightly or wrongly i have a bad feeling that may include the magager as well
the yak will stay in the prem after eh took his chance. Wolves will do well i think if they get rid of their sh*te manager. But will fletcher, doyle, johnson o'hara all force themselves out? QPR may have money to keep stars but i cant see the likes of Zamora, Barton, Cisse, SWP in the championship. Wigan wont have anyone bought (maybe rodellega) so i think will do well, though their team isnt actually very good. Bolton will survive in the prem.
Absolutely no chance. He's on about 15 goals this season, most midtable sides would LOVE that. I bet Everton are gutted, their top scorer is Leighton Baines on 4 Yak will stay in that league (as much as i'd love him back).
A prem team would take Yak and i dont think Nigel would. If he thought Beckford was too lazy i cant see him accepting Yakubu.
pearson would get the yak working though!! In other news, Ched Evans is doing very well this season...
Mackail-Smith, McLean, Eastwood, Scotland, Murray, Hoskins, Barnes, Paynter, Cox, Wilbraham...... The list is endless. The only decent strikers to jump from League one are Lambert, Holt and (at a push) Beckford and Becchio
I actually think if we where to sign another stiker hes the type we should go for perhaps someone slightley better in the air. Him or Henderson from millwall. We can just keep buying stikers over and over though at some point we are going to have to make the ones weve got work. As prevous stated beckford and nugent are more then good enough for this league. We just need a a couple of shrewd midfield signings to create the chances. Im thinking Danny Murphy esque (probably wouldn't happen but someone of a similar mould). Plus a good winger.
