I think Robbie deserves a massive amount of praise for last night. The team looked totally spent against the Spuds & to come out last night & play like that was immense. I have to say though, Mata looks totally shagged out! He has to be rested against Villa. Ferreira deserves to keep his place against Villa though & give Lukaku and Sam Hutchinson run outs. In fact play this side -
    Turnbull

    Ferreira
    Hutchinson
    Cahill
    Bertrand

    Essien
    Romeu
    Piazon

    Sturridge
    Lukaku
    Malouda

Couldn't give a crap where we finish now anyway

I'll agree he did OK under Jose but was never brilliant in my opinion. There was a reason that Ivanovic was switched to right back and 10 mil was forked out for Boularouz & 18 mil for Bosingwa (both hopeless but Bosingwa looked decent before his injury). One of the best crossers of a ball around though.
I certainly do remember last season against Bale. Perhaps friggin' useless was a bit harsh but I can't remember many more game where he put in the type of performance he did against Bale.

Hey Tel, you're like me and Ashley Cole !! Every time I give him stick ( which is plenty ) the sod goes out and plays well !! Still can't bring myself to rate him though. Paulo did have a good game last night, I'm also one who thinks he's been underrated too long. Have him over Bosingwa every day, which now means Boswinga will have a blinder next game !!!
Many of our fringe players have stepped up under RDM, he deserves more credit as well.

I'd have him over Bosingwa every day too mate but I still believe he was the weak link in Jose's team and can't actually see Bosingwa having a blinder every game now unless he regains his pace, learns how to tackle and pass the ball. Once he's mastered that he can then take lessons from Paulo on how to cross the ball. I never rated Cole as a defender while he was at Arsenal but feel his defending has improved immensely with us. Until this season that is, he's been awful of late and I'm just hoping it was because of AVB. We all have our shall we say "least favourite" players and before Malouda, mine was Paulo. I also thought Tiago was pretty awful too & before Jose it was Jesper Gronkjaer. Before him there were too many to mention. My first "least favourite" player was Tommy Baldwin and later I couldn't stand Bill Garner then Teddy Maybank. Favourite all time player - Alan Hudson.

I used to watch Alan Hudson and Charlie Cook when I first came to London . What would you give for a player exactly like him to run our midfield today ?? My least favourite player was Jody Morris. My all time favourite, not surprisingly , Zola.

Obviously Zola was a hell of a player but Hudson just had that bit of arrogance about his play. How the hell he only got 2 England caps I'll never know!
