We'll have to agree to disagree on this one then.
Granted he hasn't been as productive as earlier in the season but I can't recall ever thinking 'FFS get him off he's playing like a ****'.

I have about our other midfielders. At least with Koren he'll try something a bit different, fair enough it hasn't come off of late but the thought is there.

All our other midfielders offer next to **** all except step overs and no end product.

I dont see any of the players that NB wants to keep leaving at all. Some will get improved deals as they deserve them for this seasons efforts alone. With the amount of Quality Free Agents available in the summer i expect most of NB new signings to come from that lot. Who they are is another matter for another time. IF the club can get Messrs. McShane and Ghilas off the wage bill for starters that frees up the sort of cash that will be needed for contract improvements. Koren appears happy and settled where he is so why move ? But yes the summer is going to be very interesting on the who comes in. NB.Fixtures issued on 18th June 2012 for the 2012/13 season.!!!

As you mentioned about contracts not really mattering much the same probably applies to this, but if there is a release clause in Koren's contract it would presumably have been in order to guarantee him as an international player that he could get back to playing top flight football if the opportunity arose and a sensible price was offered. On that basis I would hope it was just PL or foreign clubs that could trigger it rather than it including other clubs in our division.

With regards Koren's lack of influence recently. I suspect he'd have been contributing more if the oppposition hadn't been able to focus their efforts on him having realised that the rest of the team was about as likely to penetrate as a gay man at a women only slimming club

That's a very good point. If I was a a manager coming to play us all I'd do is have him marked him out of the game, job done.

If we had another two midfielders who could produce the goods the emphasis on how to prevent us from scoring wouldn't be all about Koren.
It would therefore leave him a bit of freedom to influence the game.
As it stands Stewart, Brady and Cairney just aren't doing anywhere near enough.

I like to watch good football and he's a very good footballer.

To be fair to Koren after he went off against Southampton we looked so much worse. He offers movement and someone to actually create space, no-one else drags space away from them. When Koren played he always had two men on him, where he may not do anything but he has drawn two men out of position straight away, teams without him in the team oppositions just set up really standardly and it makes it harder to break them down.

If Koren goes then we should adopt 4-4-2 with Mckenna and Evans in centre and Cairney as backup. Creativity would come from a decent winger who can cross a ball and get in a striker who can hold up play/head a ball for fryatt much like Burgess did for super Danny Allsopp, maybe Altidore? Failing that, find a new Stuart Elliott and do it all from the left wing!

I'm hoping that you are ,in fact, an international hit man.

Just hope I'm not on your list.

If I was I'd be jumping them ahead of the queue and doing it this summer.

(Got to now hope they don't get assassinated this summer or this post could come back to haunt me)
