West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has defended their recent displays after his own supporters chanted about the side's style of football. The Hammers boss vowed to play "the West Ham way" when he took over in June but fans have voiced their displeasure at what they see as direct tactics. Supporters at the 2-0 win at Peterbrough were heard singing, 'We're West Ham United, we play on the floor'. But Allardyce said: "I'm sick of all that rubbish." This will make him really popular!
He's been told to get to the Prem in any way possible. If they don't go up at all this season then next season they're in financial sh!t street next year!
Can't blame him for being sick of it really. Every manager has his own style and that's his. If they don't like it they shouldn't have hired him.
Spot on. There's no 'right' or 'wrong' way of playing football, but most people seem to have decided that direct football = wrong
As he said earlier in the season he is playing the west ham way. His comments then were something like West Ham haven't played the way their fans think they should for years. So he is just continuing the way the West Ham had been playing. lol Our chant would be 'we are saints we play on the floor we play in the air We've mastered it all In Adkins we trust We are Saints'
Quite, if the club had gone for the crowd pleaser manager, the guy who would had them playing 'proper' football, with the team in all likelihood further down league; he would have been sacked by now. And then who would they replace him ...Alardyce? Maybe the fans need to swallow their medicine, and the fact they follow ex-premier league financial miscreants.
I'm fairly confident in saying that the West Ham fans didn't hire him and it's unlikely that Gold and Sullivan will be singing we're West Ham. What do they care except about money?
The Wet Spam supporters were quite happy to lap up Mr Allarhoof's style of play when they were winning and in the automatic spots. Fickle.
I'm sure that a commentator on Sky said that West Ham were playing well. Sometimes fans get things in their heads and nothing will shift it. At this end of the season, winning is everything.
