"We had a great time playing in front of our supporters in Asia last year and it will be good to give our fans in North America the chance to watch us live this summer," said Liverpool FC Manager Kenny Dalglish. "My son Paul worked and played in America and he's told me about just how much interest there is in Liverpool, and English football, right now. We've had some amazing matches against Roma in the past, particularly the 1984 European Cup final, so it should be fantastic."

"During its 100-year history, Fenway Park has hosted some of the best in athletic competition and a match between Liverpool and AS Roma - two of the world's most well-known and respected clubs - is an appropriate way to help celebrate Fenway's 100th anniversary and showcase our ballpark to an international audience," said Fenway Sports Group Principal Owner John W. Henry.

"We're thrilled to bring Liverpool Football Club to North America and provide our fans with the chance to see the team live in action this summer," said Fenway Sports Group and Liverpool FC Chairman Tom Werner. "Our goal is to create an unforgettable experience for our North American fans while building a lasting legacy for Liverpool here in the States."

The Club's Managing Director Ian Ayre said, "It's been a few years since we last travelled to North America to play, but everyone's very excited about our plans for this summer. We'll work closely with our main sponsor Standard Chartered and our other partners in the region to put together a fantastic tour schedule, which will hopefully see us engage with as many fans as possible. Taking on AS Roma at Fenway Park will be a great experience, particularly as the ballpark is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary."

Gavin Laws, Group Head of Corporate Affairs at Standard Chartered, said: "Last summer's pre-season tour to Asia was a great success thanks to the reaction and support of the local fans. We expect the team's American fans to extend an equally warm welcome to their heroes. It will be great to see the Club playing in the States again and we're looking forward to very exciting games."

The match takes place on the 25th July 2012, and tickets go on sale 28th april.

****, decision time. I was set for baltimore with Reds against Tottenham, but this one I think I like better. Have a friend up there so would have a place to stay as well, but damn, gotta look at the schedule and get on the ball pronto!

I'm waiting to see how much the tickets will be. And a cab from New York to there and back etc. Could wind up being pretty expensive.

If you do go Billy you need to get on the American embassy website and get a visa waver number, you cant just book a flight and travel over there anymore without the number. It lasts two years.

The number you received was free when i got mine but i think you have to pay for them now.

I would have to drive/fly in from Cinci. If I can get the tickets early enough I can get a cheap flight. I don't know when I will be over to England to catch a game with also trying to get to brazil for the world cup so this might be a good shot to catch the reds, and mainly Stevie G <ok>

Ya **** is strict these days. I think you can get another one that is something like a "visit" or "vacation" something like that which would allow you over for like a week.

Then you stay for the rest of your life <ok>

I met a couple of lads that had 'jumped the border' and made a life for their families while they were illegal's until they were there long enough to become citizens in their own right.
