i was just wondering if there's any United players that you wrote off but proved you right, there's 2 for me and they are : David De Gea - I was one of those to back him when he was getting endless stick by some of our fans and the media, during those ''bad'' spells he was doing well but the media wanted to concentrate on his mistake and not the good performances he put in, i was telling people he'll come good, and so far i've been proven right. Chris Smalling - I remember on the old 606 2 years agopeople were telling me he would fail, we wasted alot of money on him, but i told them he wouild succeed here don't forget his boyhood team Arsenal were interested in signing him but he decided to join us he was written off by some of our fans now look at him, a first team regular and a England international, i'm glad i backed him all the way and he's surely one of the best signings the manager has made.
For me Carrick even though it's off track from your post. Every recent top I have has 16 Carrick on the back, great vision great passer, I actually remember playing a footie match indoor and had a united kit on and some of the opposition mouthed off as to why I had Carrick on my top etc, if he was foreign I suspect haters would have a different opinion.
He's underrated by people i think, i saw an article a few years ago and Xavi. as saying that he rated Michael Carrick.
i couldn't find the Xavi article but i found the Xabi Alonso one - http://11x2.com/news/559310/real-ma...k-is-the-answer-to-englands-midfield-problems
Managed to find the Xavi quote on Carrick: "Carrick gives United balance and can play defensively, too,". Xavi also added "He passes well, has a good shot and is a complete player.""
Carrick for the stability and protection he gives to the back four. Would like to see him shoot more often and also would like the rest of the team to press the opponents as a group more often i.e. the first 10 minutes against Fulham. De Gea- He can only improve, nice to hear the crowd singing his name in support. The boy is young, flexible and has great reflexes. He can eventually be the Casillas playing here in the Premier League. Rafael, he has got a nice touch and just needs to cut out the rash tackles. He has taken loads of flake for the mistakes against Bayern and Bilbao but he is growing up in the role. Evans, no words. Personally I did doubt the gaffer but damn, the boy is delivering at the moment. Shows that consistency is all our players need.
Fletcher and Evans. I always thought both players would come good if they got a consistent run in the team. And I don't think it's a coincidence that Fletch's medical problems have coincided with all the chat about our midfield not being up to scratch.
I've constantly defended Evans! But I'm still holding back on Jones, I'm not yet 100% convinced by him, and I've always rated Smalling the better player and defender. So there's one for the future that I'm hoping to be utterly convinced about.
Its the opposite for me. I really thought Rooney would reach the heights of Ronaldo and Messi and wanted SAF to sign him up I dont think he has fulfilled his potential Still a good player but could have been a great
