Sorry mate but he is much better than Shola - Ameobi only plays well twice a season!!!! As for the OP - Bendtner has been good over the past few games - you can't only blame him last night - bar Cattermole no-one put the effort in in midfield - OK he gave the ball away a few times (a lot less than most of our midfield and defence) We hoofed the ball up to Bendtner against (IMO) one of (if not the) the best centre halves in the league outside the top 4 (Distin) who won everything bar about 2 headers - crossing was poor except for a couple of dead balls in the first half and generally the side were not good enough - you can;t say get rid just because of one bad game - otherwise you'd be packing an awful lot of bags and driving a minibus to take players like Larsson and McClean away as they were also both very poor yesterday - I felt sorry for Bardo as he played the entire first half with no support from Larsson - personally I'd leave him out on Saturday Isn't it amazing how different opinions can be - I personally thought Cattermole was our best outfield player and Bardsley second best - mainly due to the fact that both were effectively the only player playing in Midfield and Defence respectively - Neville had McClean in his back pocket and every time sessegnon go the ball he beat one man to have another 3 to beat with no support from midfield. Down our left (their right) they tried for the first 15 minutes of the game and got nothing - they changed to their left (Larsson and Bardsley) and realised that they were only playing against Bardsley and took the piss - Larsson is a luxury we can ill afford at times - he has had some great games but we have others capable of taking a free kick and corner so give him a couple of weeks on the sidelines IMO
I am not a big Bendtner fan I admit it, against QPR he played OK, last night he and many others were poor. My son who does not come to that many games said to me that McClean has a much better attitude, was not playing well but got stuck in, Bendtner who should have been given the Everton CBs a hard time, just backs off, he is 6ft 4ins and presumably could put himself about a bit, he has skill but until he gets a hard never say die spirit he will never be that good, he did not see too bothered about anything a very lackadaisical, not fussed demeanour. Football is of course not like rugby where it is important to be physical, but as with McClean at times you do have to get stuck in and work hard especially when the ball is not breaking for you. If your striker is putting his body on the line as it were it can lift the whole team, 'the Drog' of course does fall over lots and wins free kicks but he is also all over the CBs Bendtner just drifts away from the trench warfare and we lose the battle. For me I would let him go back to Arsenal now and play Campbell, Ji and Wickham so MoN can gauge their capabilities in the heat of battle in the remaining games against some tough teams.
I don;t think we can - not sure how the loan rules work but if there is a clause in the loan that the parent club can recall then the loan can be cut short - but if that clause isn't there then he can't (i.e. the "selling" club receives a fee for a loan for the term - if that term is shortened then it must be stated before the agreement is signed that the player can return to parent club. I think we've got him until the end of the season - may be wrong though as I'm no expert
Bendtner is just not what we need. Everyone was poor last night but some of the others have been consistently good previously: larsson, McClean etc... Bendtner has 1 good game in 10
Bendtner was poor last night, however, I thought the game was lost in the centre of midfield where Cattermole looked well out of sorts...In my opinion Colback is a better footballer than Cattermole and him playing might just have made the difference, because Cattermole gave the ball away so many times and also created very little towards our attacking play...
Bendtner has improved although not to the extent that I would pay the money to have him as our main striker for next season. Larsson appears to have went off the boil and perhaps his goals that assisted our escape from a relegation battle maybe the extent of his long-term influence at SAFC. I like Larsson for the effort he put in against Man City and a few other games however he isn't suited to a team that plays counter attacking football because he isn't quick enough. Sessegnon had a bad day at the office last night, lost the ball countless times. Cattermole looked rusty however it was only a few weeks ago he was exceptional. I think Gardner was poor in midfield and had he been there to pick up the loose ball from Cattermole's destroy mission then we may have had much more control in the middle of the park. I think Vaughan compliments Cattermole much more than Gardner although it took last night's performance to finally realise that is the case. Vaughan is always in there picking up the loose ball and then distributing to the wings or threading it through to Sessegnon. Colback is pushing for a first name on the sheet in the middle of the park, very close. Perhaps a new creative midfielder alongside Colback is the way forward?
