Oh, that's lovely Ponders. Hope everyone enjoys themselves.

If you're doing a not606'ers take away deal, make mine a stuffed crust meat feast with extra anchovies, please...yum!

After Stevenage I looked into the prices and if you went to every game this season paying for each game you'd be forking out about £500 in the most expensive areas, its not something someone is going to do but at least those fans seem to get thought of more[/QUOTE]

Err, thanks for that! I've found myself going to the vast majority of games this season (more than I expected thanks to the roller coaster of a season that we've had) and I've tried not to think how much I've spent.<doh> Taken the plunge and got my season ticket for next year before the prices increase to Championship levels (there, not a hint of negativity!). I'd not be happy if there were more that a couple of cheap deals to erode the value that I think I'm getting. Also agree with the thought that ST holders might get a bit of an occasional bonus, even if its only a dodgy pie or a waterered down larger<ale>

Anchovie? I thought he was an Everton player!

No wonder the Pizza Hut staff have been looking at me funny when I ask for extra Anichebes.

The point about Season Ticket holders not getting much reward for their commitment is a very valid one. Apart from the reduction in tickets and the (ever so slight) priority in away games, we don't really get much thanks. The one free pie/programme/'lager' sounds like a good idea. Perhaps (now I'm drifting into fairy land) if the club were to make certain partnerships or connections, we could get for example 10% off at Pizza Hut (double relevance to the thread ;) ) etc. I believe there is a deal with a car dealership where you can get a certain discount if you're a Charlton season ticket holder, but that only targets those in the high end of the wage spectrum, something for the every-man to make use of would be nice.

Anchovies are the food of the Devil (or to be more precise...... Steve Evans.....) and along with Pineapple should NEVER appear on the top of a Pizza! Now Tandoori Chicken Pizza is the greatest invention since basil!

I'm with you on anchovies. Appalling things. But pineapple is essential to my pizza of choice.

Anchovies - yum,yum - could eat them til they came out of my ears, one of my favourite foods - along with Olives and Capers. Pizza Express do a Pizza with all 3 ingredients.

It's amazing how your tastes change over the years. I used to hate olives and celery. Now I love em. I think anchovies might take a while longer though.

LOOK! Celery or Celeriac are NOT proper foodstuffs and should not be considered good for you..... this is a rumour being put about by the 'tree huggers' as a way of saving the planet..... IT IS NOT!

Whilst we're deviating a bit (careful!), has anyone else seen the Charlton Flag at the Sri Lanka test match going on currently?

As you can tell, i'm 'working' from home today !

I love a bit of celery. Helps with my blood pressure with all it's phthalide goodness. Mmmmmmm

Or you can have blue cheese dip with it like the Americans?

Just to bring a very tenuous thread of footballing relevance to this, I remember going on a corporate jolly to an FA cup semi final at villa park a few years ago between chelsea and Fulham. Before the game the Chelsea fans were singing "celery celery" and lobbing sticks of celery at each other. Bizarre. Anyone know what all that's about?

My dad's mate played for Chelsea in the 80's and he said he never knew why/where/how it started. Think they banned the chants now - it was sung at local rivals if I remember right?

I think the chant, extolling the alleged aphrodisiac/sexual disciplinary powers of the crunchy foodstuff, and the carrying of celery itself into the ground were banned some time ago, after stewards cleared about 20lbs of it from the goalmouth during one game.

    Approximate lyric -

"If your missus doesn't c*m, smack her round the b*m with celery, celery..."

    And no, I haven't tried it. <laugh>

    Anchovy Quiz

From which film does this quote come, during a pizza ordering scene?

    "...and no little fishies!"
