Just out of curiosity why do Saints fans seem to think victory is an absolute nailed on certainly for april 7 ?? We're coming for youuuuuuu
We don't. Personally I think it will be very close and will depend on results this weekend plus new potential off field problems for Pompey.
Agreed. i think you'll win 1 or 2 nil after a long stalemate. am slightly alarmed at our inconsistency though - from complete ****e to decent in 4 days.
It will be close but I'm not one to get up and celebrate and brag etc until it has actually happened. ie. Promotion, beating Pompey etc... I prefer to wait until it's official The sensible thing to do.
The way these threads seem to come back and bite you on your country seat, I think posting them would seal their league title and our relegation
Not sure if it's the biting or back side bit SB likes Verbal one end ant teeth marks the other. No wonder he gets confused.
How the hell are we going to be in league one unless we suddenly do something financially terrible and are deducted something like 60 points?
Try not to be so thick Godders! Thumby means what's the odds on us beating relegation now just 3 points adrift with better goal difference and the Scummers cocking it up and falling foul of the play offs lottery! I quite believe anything is possible and no doubt the bookies will offer decent odds, so maybe I will have a flutter.
Well we did you a favour in beating Doncaster, I don't recall anyone thanking us for that SB3. We don't thankfully cock too much up these days. Although no doubt your knees are worn out from all the praying that we do SB3.......
Thank you Beddy, I appreciate it! I think most of us secretly thanked you. Which is something to hold onto. It's easy to feel great when one is on top, but if you can feel great, when you are in the nadir of mediocrity then you are a true fan. It has to be said that how the Southampton fans got behind their team, after nearly going under, dropping to L1, being hit with another points deduction etc; was something that I certainly didn't envisage. There would be no shame in Pompey fans trying to emulate that, though who or what takes over the club may have a large bearing on what happens. No-one can deny the passion of those that still actually go though, either.
Yep, thanks Ted , its a shame you have not been able to stuff St.Brendy for me as well yet!..............
We'll obviously need to make additions, but there seems to be a little bit of a trend of late: the teams that are comfortable playing passing football are the ones with the best chance of sticking, while the ones that play negatively and rely on the long ball struggle badly. Saints might come straight back down, as any promoted team might, but I like our odds of avoiding relegation next year...all the more if West Ham or Brighton go up and try to hoof their way to survival.
If Saints get promotion, I think the team will be slightly re-vamped but there are already some exceptional players in the squad who will excel in the top flight. At the moment, Saints seem to be able to overcome all the odds and are getting results at the least likely places. Just hope that the curse of TV doesn't kick in on Saturday. Ideally, Saints, Reading and West Ham deserve promotion as they have been far better than any other teams in the Championship over the course of this season. As for Pompey, the fans at work have suggested that the team is starting to click and the likes of Bristol, DOncaster and Coventry are erratic at best.
As I predicted in this thread the Liebherr family want out, a mystery consortium believed to be headed by Michael Fialka is waiting in the wings http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2897...onsortium-in-talks-to-buy-southampton-for-25m
