im am still shocked and surprised by the teams profomance tonight...the wrer never in the game

we let outher games and points slip away becasue the players were focased on this game

we were out managed and out played

There was one point when there was that little boy and his dad sitting there and the boy was lying on his dads knee and i realised we didnt deserve this at all for years north east football has suffered and we needed somthing to keep s going but over played and over hyped players of which none and sunderland fans themselfs let down 36k again and many more watching it

Tonight, yes. The season, no! I know it is not much consolation however if you finished 7th (or 8th), it would still go down as a good season :). I hate boo's as I find them pointless and unhelpful!

Correct me if I'm wrong but if Everton beat Liverpool in the semi-final doesn't that produce the same outcome? Everton in Europe and Newcastle concentrating on the league for next season?

Aye but given the choice between you and Everton nicking our spot I know who I would choose.

Also if we finish 5th, we'll still get in regardless of who wins what.

Notice how I said IF we get 5th, not WHEN we get 5th like you lot did with the cup semi's like it was a forgone conclusion. This is why we dont have threads coming back and biting us on the arse all the time.

i fully expect everton to turn liverpool over in the semis, everyone would agree that we were poor last night but everton were excellent and credit must be given to them and their fans, who were the noisiest fans i've ever heard at the sol, and can't see the mags finishing 5th so i reckon they'll miss out on europe. To be honest I'm not arsed either way but it's an exciting end of the season for them, shame o'neill didn't arrive here earlier as it would have been exciting for us anarl

****ing hell, if only you had the intelligence to see the irony in your statement. Your lot have captured and cornered the market in delusional statements over the last 20 years daft ****e and have had more chunks of flesh bitten from your arse cheeks than the rest of the football fraternity put together.

I Booed the ref from the pitch as he was awful - Phil Neville ELBOWS james McClean and his "punishment" was to take a throw in with no card or free-kick or anything! Fellainin commits 4 fouls as bad as Cattermoles yellow but, as he's already on a yellow, doesn't get spoken to - he should have had a second yello for the advantage the the ref played

You never know what might have happened had Neville been sent off - I doubt it would've made any difference to the end result but a little consistency in a game would be nice - you expect inconsistency over a season from different refs but (and we all said this about Probert yesterday) - he's ****e.

I certainly didn't boo the team as, as you say qwop, the gaffer has done a tremendous job lifting us from where we were to where we are and the players also have a big part to play in that. Maybe we froze as the players aren't used to that sort of noise as, even with 40k+ in on a Saturday, it's never as noisy as a midweek game (no idea why but it's the same in all grounds I've been to including Newcastle - don't know if the night games just lift the crowds or what!)

Not necessarily - If Chelsea win the Champions League and finish below you then 4th place goes into the Europa and 5th gets nowt!! (4 spots for CL - 1st to 3rd and Chelsea) and 1 Europa for the league and 2 for the cups

Neville really didn't elbow him, at all. He went towards him with his shoulder ready for a shoulder barge but McClean didn't so he caught him. McClean wasn't even bothered about it, him and Phil shook hands when he got up.

The usual suspects on your team taking things too far, Bardsley and Cattermole. Bardsley saying he flung his arm out, did he ****, his arm was by his side.

As for the Europa League, if we finish 4th and Chelsea finish 5th but win the champions league then we do get into Europe, who would the league place go to? 7th and just leave 4th out <doh>
