I believe the infamous 'tackle' on Wagstaff from the first half at Huddersfield is now on CAFC Player (in slow motion? or at least just the highlights themselves). Would anybody who subscribes to CAFC Player be able to post up a 'print screen' or something of the challenge taking place? If so, cheers
Unfortunately the tackle is not shown very clearly, but from what you can make out, well I've seen red cards given for less. The referee's performance is astonishing, walking backwards to the other side of the pitch, waving both arms in the air all the while before taking his grievance out on Hamer. Sorry I'm technically useless and can't give any sort of link.
I'll see what I can do about a Screenshot when he goes lunging in but to me it looks like he goes in two footed and studs first...
I don't doubt it was a card-worthy tackle from the many comments from those present, but that video clip shows nothing clearly. You need to have been there to interpret the clip and reconstruct the "crime" so I think the Club are misguided to make a special feature of it. The one thing it does very clearly show is that Hamer is an idiot.
I was there and it was definitely a card worthy tackle (regardless of what colour) - As for Hamer he was an idiot in running up to the half-way line to make his comments known as Smithies stayed in his area The moment he ran up I was screaming for Hamer to get back into Goal because I knew the Ref would want a word.
Regardless of whether Hamer is an idiot - don't think that disbars him from being a goalkeeper, I understand that the referee was also surrounded by Udds players who with the exception of their captain should also have been booked (if Hamer was booked for trying to pressure the ref). Seems to imply that Boyseon had an agenda with the way he dealt with matters. I doubt that the FA will bother to look into this and I doubt that the referees association will consider it worthy of examination either. Suggest we send it to Blatter as something he can beat the FA over the head with if they try to accuse him of being other than even handed.
I was sat in the press box doing my work for the NewsShopper, so I was sat on the half way line just behind the dug outs - so I had an excellent view of the incident. As soon as the 'challenge' went in everyone around me winced and numerous people said "He's got to go" or "He's gone". Also the directors box was directly in front of me and everyone shared the same view. Astonishing decision from the referee, or lack of decision I should say.
Depends if he mentioned in his Match Report If it doesnt get mentioned then I dont think anything can get done about it, if it gets mentioned but he feels it was an accident again nothing can be done about it
There is a link on the OS which is highlighted as 'The footage that couldnt be shown' - but i cant get it to play (maybe thats why it 'cant be shown' ! - which is the tackle in question.
If a ref books someone, then no further action can be taken. It's only when he misses something completely the dicks upstairs are able to do something.
OK, just got it to work. DEF red card. lunges in a mile from the ball, Waggy has already offloaded the ball forward, and he gives a drop-ball - the most ludicrous decision ive seen for a long time. And his mugging assault on Russell in 2nd half which was totally disgusting - how the hell did he get through 90 mins- and yet we end up with the man sent off - what a load of rubbish. I think Mr Kay might have to be a bit wary the next time he visits The Valley.! And the Ref too.
I think because he gave a drop ball he acknowledged it and nothing will happen, and lets face it, we're still league one, the FA won't care about it, if it was in the prem it would be all over the news, we just need to accept we've not got that going for us any more
