This is interesting for two reasons. Firstly, it deflects the attention off Harry, and should give the club some breathing space, as we approach the last few crunch matches. Secondly - and perhaps more interestingly - he's being sponsored by Alan Shearer, who was a major media mouthpiece for putting (and keeping) Harry's name in the frame. I doubt that we can read too much into this, but the fact that Shearer is now putting his weight behind Hoddle after having declared that "Harry is the only man for the job" does raised the possibility that he's heard something the rest of the media hasn't, yet. A while back, when Hoddle suggested that he'd love to have another crack at the England job, I implored him not to embarrass himself. But it may well be the case that the England job is too much of a poisoned chalice for any current top-flight manager to risk his reputation on, and the likes of Hoddle and Venables (although - please God - not Queen Kenny!) might not seem such laughable prospects, after all?
My first thought was whether his academy needed a cash injection, which the wages of being England manager would doubtless cover...
Nowadays he would probably be arrested for making the comments he did.Would Hoddle want to put himself through all that again.The media would not allow it to happen. When you think about it the media controls the appointment and the life of the England manager. What a situation.
But it does seem to suggest that the media is beginning to believe that Harry might not get the job (or, perhaps, has already made it known to those in the know that he doesn't want it).
Or they just want to create more speculation to sell their papers. The media believes nothing, it just wants to excite and sell.
Perhaps. Although, I would have thought that the bigger story would have been "Harry speculation ruins Spurs!" Surely, that would encourage the media to keep plugging away at the Harry/England link, rather than to go off on a random Hoddle/England link?
I don't think Redknapp is good enough for the England job.. he is well liked in media circles and that has been the main driver of his claim to the job. Hoddle, in my view, was the best manager England have had since Alf Ramsey. He got England playing proper football - not just playing it, but playing it better than most (who can forget the display in Rome - quality from defence to attack. Even Phil Neville looked class). We were so unlucky to go out of the World Cup against Argentina. The reason he was ousted from the job is simple - the media didn't like being shut out. Until people like Rob Sheppard are ignored (better still, strung up), England will never succeed.
It makes perfect sense, was reading he had the 3rd best win rate of all England managers and from what I gather, his coaching methods were liked by the players, I would be surprised if it happened, in fact the more you think about it, less chance it will happen because of the reason behind his previous sacking would no doubt be mentioned.
To be fair, I personally think his views are private and nothing to do with England or Football in general. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, many Hindus believe a similar theory, so his views can't be considered that radical.
Let him go and manage India then. His extreme and twisted religious views were not welcome then & still aren't!
I think he was trying to tout himself for a potential temporary role for the Euros, LDL. Wouldn't be a bad shout either, he knows the role better than most.
But his academy takes players who are rejectedd by other clubs and turns them into prospects. I reckon that requires more than a passing knowledge of the ins and outs of the game Luke. His scouting network, surely has to be more efficient than one that simply looks for top players? I think he is a good bet. The stuff before? History.
Now lets think this over, would he be bringing God with him? Might just give England that little bit extra.

I think he will have learnt that imposing his religion was a gaffe, I doubt sessions with the queer one, whatever her name was, will be part of his training programmes now.
It does make you wonder whether any England coach can ever be honest about his religious beliefs, though. If Hoddle was a member of an established and well known faith that believes in reincarnation, would he have been given the boot? His views were deemed controversial, but he basically said that he believes in karma and eternal spirits. I don't believe in anything like that, but surely there's no requirements of belief for that role?
it was'nt so much his religious belief's if i remember rightly, it was his statement about disabled people were being punished for doing something wrong in a former life.who can say he is'nt right
