Don't get me wrong i'm not having a go at Patrice Evra here but to me he seems to quiet to be our captain, if i was the manager i would give it Rio Ferdinand because he helps the youngsters out and plays like a leader. Who do yo think should be our captain ?
If Fletcher was fit and playing well I'd say give him a shout. Rooney is probably the next choice apart from Giggs or Scholes.
Disagree completely. Don't think anyone is more passionate than Rooney and he's the one who drives the team on and leads by example. When the team isn't playing at its best there's only one guy demanding the ball and trying to drag us forward constantly and that guy is Rooney.
Vidic will get it back when he returns from injury, I also think it should be given to Rio for the time being. He is a passionate leader on the pitch.
Sounds like a reasonable idea, but Rio was the captain until Fergie gave it to Vidic because Rio was always hurt. It would be odd to give it back to him. Rio is a captain without the armband anyways.
I am not sure he is 100% at the moment, thats just my opinion, could be not 100% fit. I think by his standards he has been poor despite the goal return Welbeck also gives 100% but he isnt a leader either, same with tevez etc I think there is a reason rooney played so well with ronaldo, and that reason for me was that rooney wasnt the 'number 1 guy' and he quitely went about his business. He then became the number 1 guy scored a shed load of goals but didnt look happy Anyway the point is he isnt captain material for me, just his screaming and shouting at the other players is enough evidence of that. You need a calm person and rooney is too volatile for me
2 things tbh, and as they say opinions are like ....... Firstly being passionate oesnt make you a good captain. People like Becks and Stevie G are passionate but for me are not captain material, no communication IMO secondly I think currently the team is playing poor becasue of rooney, which is a contradiction in a way as he is leading goalscorer. As I have said by rooneys standards he has been poor this season despite the goals
You may have a point about communication though Rooney does communicate on the pitch. However how is the team playing badly because of Rooney? Please explain.
I think since has been fulfilling the dual role, ie midfield when defending and linking with welbeck/hernandez up front, a lot of our play goes through rooney When he is firing we have pace, possession and score from all over the shop. It allows the likes of Evra and to a degree rafael to play almost as wingers (based on the time they spend in the opposition half) Off form and he loses the ball by either making a bad pass or running into trouble, putting the pressure back on us and IMO leaving players like Evra out of position and us playing catch up. Next time you watch the oppositions attack see who loses the ball Giggs is another who loses the ball but often doesnt lead to as much danger Personally the quicker we get Ando fit or buy a partner for carrick, hence alleviating the 'need' for rooney to be so vital the better. I think his performances will go to what we expect of him. Incidentally I would rather have rooney playing as I think he can and influencing games than actually scoring the goals, the goals come from all over when he is on top form However I do think he isnt fully fit, he seems to give up the chase more these days and I dont think that is because he isnt bothered, either unfit or just plain knackered from his role
I think Ando has just been unlucky TBH with injuries, I remember him and SAF saying this was going to be his break out/defining season and TBF I did say or buy a partner for carrick Personally I see him coming good if he can get himself fit and a run of games, if not then get shot. Also think with scholes returning, fletch too and ando/clev staying fit and Pogba coming through we are ok in that department Have always felt we need a striker (in the saha mould) to play up front and partner rooney. Chich to me needs to be our new Solksjaaer and welbeck I think needs a few seasons to become the complete striker
I find your argument very weak. Rooney doesn't communicate? bull****. He doesn't stop. Not just haranguing people who don't pass to him either. Who's always trying to get the team to press defenders and the keeper, waving his partner forward. Who can be seen racing back 40 yards and putting in tackles when our backs are against the wall or putting in his shift defensively on corners. When playing a team who parks the bus its Rooney dropping off finding space or coming deep and taking possession of the ball when no-one else wants it. I agree he hasn't been at his best, the last couple games especially, but how the hell can you use a dip in form as a basis for saying he would be the worst choice. He's the heartbeat of our attack and I think the responsibility would bring even better from him.
I remember Anderson's first season with us, he was quality and dominated midfielders like Cesc Fabregas and Steven Gerrard.
Anderson will never be fit enough IMO to show people what he may be capable of. Time to trade him in.
I like Anderson and defended him many times on 606. He's a good player who could become a great player.... but his injury record is getting ridiculous and he might never reach his potential.
