I've just seen a stat on twitter that interested me and it said the following - Wayne Rooney has got 21 goals in 26 games in the premier league this season, 28 goals in 34 games in all competitions and overall has got 175 goals in 357 games for us. He's quietly doing the business, he's under the radar. i think he might get us 35 goals this season in all competitions. don't forget he's only 26 years old and has got at least another 10 years in him, he's at the top of his game. Thoughts ?
will probably get grief for this, but those stats actually dont tell the whole picture for me I think wayne has actually been poor this season. IMO he has actually played better in games he hasnt scored Not sure if its a lingering injury (his ankle?) but he seems to be less mobile than before and doesnt chase things down as much. He loses the ball far too much for me The goals are there though so I can see the 'he is doing his job' argument. However I think there have been a lot of games where a goal (penalty or otherwise) that has covered up a poor performance PS by poor I mean to rooneys standards.
Hopefully the thought of catching RVP for the golden boot will be the motivation he needs to help us win the league
I'm glad I'm not the only one thats noticed this. And it wasn't just last night as well. His touch and passing is either ****, and I mean kids **** let alone professional footballers' **** or brilliant. He has the tendancy to play too many flicks rather looking to turn and drive forward and general decision making isn't brilliant. Which I often find hilarious when he blasts others for making the wrong decision or poor execution! This isn't me saying he is crap, just that his goals have masked his general poor quality of play. I think he plays technically better with Nani in the team, he links better with him in terms of creativity and flair but with Valencia, he is much more of a striker, using Valencia's generally good crosses to good effect.
To be frank your a mug who knows nothing about professional football, Rooney is not the same player who burst on the scene as a teenager, also his natural physique would prove that he would have to slow down as he got older say compared to Messi or Ronaldo. However he is much more creative and plays as a classic no.10 who is the heartbeat of everything. To say his general decision making isn't great shows how clueless and un-educated you are, Rooney is one of the most creative and most prolific strikers in World Football, without him United would be 4th at best, if he was up for sale practically every club would go in for him, mainly for inlfuence, will to win and un-selfish play for others. To summarise, you have not a clue what you are talking about, watch some more games and re-educate yourself before posting such drivel. Yet another plastic United fan who has not a clue what he is talking about, too many of you have infected my club, it makes me sick to the stomach, bet you we're slagging off Evans a few months back.
Ooh touched a nerve did I? Why don't you try responding to the points I've raised instead of attacking me. Says more about you than it does about me. Again, I will reiterate, Rooney hasn't been technically sound for a while now. All you have to do is watch his touch and passing. I made a suggestion that this can be correlated to Nani's absence. For my money, he seems to be more of an creative hub with Nani in the team than with Valencia. Which also makes us that much more one-dimensional in Nani's absence. There are lots of reasons for this, with Valencia we are sucessful the vast majority of times so why change that tactic? Let me make another point? Do you think Rooney was taken off last night because he was tired, or because he had a crap match? And if you want to have a personal attack at me, at least be bothered to read what I've posted on this site.
